AC Joker Poker. Player is dealt a Wild Royal Flush on a $5.00 game for a $2,500 payout, but he is pretty drunk and decides to "go for the natural royal." - AND GETS IT BY POPPING THE SUITED TEN!!
Only problem: All SF, WRF's, and natural royals all pay the same! I had to explain to him why he was not getting $20K. In that game, the only hand you get paid 4,000 credits for is a 5K.
To his credit, he says to me: "Perhaps I shouldn't drink QUITE as much while I am playing!!!
------
As an aside, AC Joker Poker is a very popular game for those who do not know, but it only returns 97.19% with perfect play, which few people know, and you lose about 70% of all of the hands you play. People love it because you hit a 5K on average every 11K hands, but the strategy is not intuitive, and it's volatile.

I love that game! However you can really get killed on it if you don't get a few straight flushes and that 5OAK!

It can be played on a progressive when the 5K Jackpot gets around 5,400 coins or so.

The returns are good but many penalty cards and difficult to find a good pay schedule.

Once you get used to the game, the strategy is not all that bad. You cannot worry about giving up a tenth of a percent when it comes to holding a single card, because when you are playing the game (if you are smart), you should be playing it when the 5K jackpot is ripe and not overthinking.

The word "intentionally" was a poor choice, but for many people, when the pace is quick and you are faced with ONLY those hands where you just hold a single card, my contention is not to spend too much time on those. The other hands in the game have very manageable situations. It is just those situations which present the most problem.
I also doubt that you are giving up anywhere near 0.1% here, and even if you become familiar with some very basic penalty card situations, you are going to make the right choice more often than not.
