I finally hit my first taxable jackpot at a casino for $2000 last week in Vegas. I was so shocked I had trouble signing the tax form. This now makes the 5th straight trip to Vegas I have made a profit on the machines. It discourages me the posts I see of people that keep losing money over long periods of time that maybe they are doing things wrong; such as playing bad paytables, not understanding bankrole requirements, not understanding slot club benefits, and most importantly only playing games you know how to play close to 100% perfectly. Maybe I have gotten lucky, or maybe the amount of research I do has just paid off for me. Some people play video poker for fun, and that is okay, just don't be surprised if you lose and look at it as entertainment only. I believe my success and i'm sure other's success are not do to luck. I'm sure my positive streak in Vegas will come in an end sometime, but that will not change my opinion.

Those things your doing may not guarantee a winning session every time, but they sure don't hurt . Ignore the back handed complements and keep up the good work!

not understanding bankrole requirements,First off, congratulations on a profitable handful of trips to the desert.Losers may understand bankroll requirements, but simply lack the funds. So play takes on a feast or famine/boom or bust mentality. I have learned the lesson of sticking to my level. I'm a quarter player, so quarters it is. My forays into dollar machines have been briefer and briefer. Just cameo appearances now.

You've definitely got the right mindset of a successful VP player, it is not that people here do not want to play with that mindset, just that the different locations present different circumstances. The travel costs to get to Vegas and play at the best market for VP might be hefty to those more than a thousand miles away.
The last post before this suggests you seek to be an advantage player. Do remember that the winning and losing streaks persist in all forms of video poker and that you will be able to withstand them.
Nonetheless, did not want to throw cold water at your achievement. congrats to you on your winning streak and your first W2G hand!

It was a 50 cent royal, which i almost always stick to the 25 cent machines so things did go my way a bit. I live in Missouri and the video poker here is better that a lot of placing but not near what it is in Vegas. I just wait until the offers come in the mail and maybe I can combine them, along with coupons books(American casino guide and Las Vegas advisor) to make my trip as little as possible. I haven't paid for a hotel in years and get nearly all my food comped as well. I feel anyone could do this to make their trip to Vegas one of the cheapest trips they could go anywhere, I know it is for me.
