Just got back from our visiting our son. Stopped by at least 4 casinos, we play mostly in ca. Or Vegas. I got a tip for u, don't go there to play VP. U might find a few old games. One of them u had to get three little devils for some kinda of bonus. Didn't stick around to see them. Most places , especially Tulalip smell like ash tray as soon as you walk in. The best casino on our trip was River Rock in Vancouver, no smoking at all and the sky train is next door,leaves every tree min. To Vancouver. They had a few vp machines . At least they were Game King single hand. Makes you glad to get back home with new and old variety machines. So, a word to the wise if your going Northwest.

The main reason not to go to Washington for VP you forgot to mention. Video poker behaves like a slot machine there!!!

What does this mean? I don't think this is something I've encountered (never played in WA state)

It means the games all have a predetermined outcome. No randomness in the draw, pay tables mean nothing. The game already knows what your win, maybe nothing, as soon as you hit the button. Doesn't matter what you hold or throw out. If the game can't make a hand out of what you held on the draw that represents a win equal to the amount it already decided you won it will throw you a bonus or a genie will come out and fix the cards.If it were determined to be a loser nothing you hold matters. It will not give you any cards on the draw to complete a winning hand. This is how it works on VLT or VGM's in my experience.

However, it does not work this way in video gaming terminals in Illinois bars and restaurants. They behave like VP in Vegas and many Riverboat states except they have $500 caps on wins. I mostly bring this up because I know Whitney has said she's been to the Casino Queen in Illinois before. The best VP game currently in those establishments is 6/5 Super DDB (96.47% 1-4 quarter; 96.78% 5 quarter) and strategy definitely does matter there! Same goes for the state of Oregon, pay tables suck in bars/restaurants, but strategy does matter.
