I think you are overestimating the income an author of a gambling book makes.
That's for sure. On my gambling writing of all sorts I've
averaged less than $10 per hour. While I have put in tens of thousands of hours
doing it over the past 20+ years --- and the total income from that is in the low
to mid six figures lifetime --- it is not enough for me to live on comfortably.

Gambling is my primary source of income. The bigger gain
from writing comes from being forced to learn this stuff cold. When I write
something that is incorrect, there are players who are not shy about
challenging me. Which is fine. Whether I learn it before I write it down (which
is what I prefer), or learn when somebody points out a mistake, the important
thing fom my point of view is to learn it well. My results in the casino depend on this
knowledge. If you attribute some of that income to knowledge learned in the writing
process, I suppose my writing income could be calculated as higher that what I
cited earlier.

Unlike Bill Ryan who says he doesn't care one way or another
if any particular participant in this forum comes or goes, I care a lot. I
found FP intolerable. His claims were outrageous and misleading, and he made up
for that by posting more than anybody else --- repeating the same things over
and over again. When I challenged what he said, he resorted to ad hominem
attacks.

He wrote many things about me. His pattern would be to start
off very flatteringly, telling people how much he respects what I have written,
but there was always a "but" at the end. His conclusions about me were partly
true but also partly not true. So long as he dominated the forum here, I wanted
no part of it.

Taking him at his word that he is gone from this forum, I
will return to posting here. I understand that some of you consider this good
news, others consider it bad news, and others still don't care either way.

I do promise the percentage of accurate information
presented on this forum will be higher with me being a participant than it was
without me participating. Whether that makes a difference to those considering
leaving the forum will have to be decided by each person individually.

I figure I let the dust settle a bit.

I feel good about Mr. Dancer participating on this forum again. For people looking to gain knowledge, and from reading the recent responses, this forum can be a good source again despite a majority departing last year.

I also see and respect that others want to interact with other people in different regions of the country who share the hobby of playing video poker. I think the possible tensions should ease since FP had a need to grab the attention from the forum with his opinions about how people should see video poker.

I also praise Webman for taking the silent treatment towards FP, if he got what he want, then everyone will ask what they want.

Lastly, I will also want to say that I will miss Bill should he make the decision to depart from this forum. I rarely meet such a genuine and classy person. I confess that I got into bouts with some others who were anti-Math thinking people. I want to wish him and the spouse in what they do moving forward.

Sounds fair Bob. There will always be critics and detractors, which may be a good thing for discourse. My hope is we can all keep learning for as u might agree, our learning should never cease.
Cheers!

Time to consider leaving VP with my recent luck. This can't continue much longer.

I appreciate the kind words and thoughts and your ability to disagree with others without rancor is something I hope others would emulate.

I also want to acknowledge the posts of others who have made positive comments.

I have decided to remain a forum member but will greatly diminish my participation given personal issues not related to the forum. I am pleased that, the level of hostility and personal attacks seems to have gone done. Hopefully, that will continue. Peace to all.
