What Would You Do?

Here's a question for the forum. Suppose you walked into your favorite casino and found that overnight the 99% VP games you have been playing for so long are now 97%. You walk out and go to the next casino. All the games have been downgraded to 97% or less. The $25 machines are still 99%. Would you go home? Would you play a few hands and leave? Would you play the 97% games and stomach the additional cost? Would you play the $25 games? Would any of this change your strategy?

Definitely not $25 (a credit) games. Not even $5 games.
Maybe play the 97% games that day unless the casinos were really close to my house. In reality, I probably vulture that day, then go home. I am firmly in the camp of driving a half-hour plus to go a casino just to turn around and go home is stupid.

Yes, I would go home. Would never play the $25 games if they were 99%. Give me $25 full pay deuces and I would invest some of my retirement account. Not all of it, but I'd take a shot.

Why?

Why would I go home or why would I take a shot at 100.76% deuces?

I would sit at the bar and play 97 deuces for a quarter at a time. I would bet one until I finished my first beer. Then bet 2 on my second beer going back to bet one anytime I got my original 20 bucks back. I would go back and do the same thing until my free offers ran out. Then, I would go fishing or buy another old car to tour around in. Actually, I think the world of video poker may be coming to this. The casinos don’t seem to care how much money us vp players really leave there. I showed my host my losses for the last ten years. He just shook his head and said I don’t understand their thinking either. They don’t tell us anything. I think they believe the 4 buck a hand penny slot players are going to last forever and see them through. They are so wrong. In Ct, they are dealing with increased competition, a population that is fleeing Ct except those with no money. and those that are here with money have less of it to spend due to escalating state and local taxes, out of site insurance costs, and on and on. More and more retirees are also supporting their children abd or elderly parents. Less money for the casinos all the way around.

To partially prove my point, the Ct casinos have been bleeding revenue for the last many months and even over the last several years. There will come a time soon imo where they are not profitable at all.

Would anyone switch to slots? Some of them are pretty entertaining. My favorite is Sword of Destiny. It has a minimum bet of 40 cents a hand, has great graphics and sound with lots of ways to win. The girls in the game are hot. What's not sexy about a half naked girl with a giant sword in her hand?
Anything can happen in a few hours. The biggest problem with playing bad games is sitting on them all day long. Multiple days are a blood bath unless you hit a royal and even then you can fall seriously behind.

No, would not switch to slots! I find them completely un-entertaining and they are even worse than that 97% machine any way!
No, would not play $25. That would be ridiculous without an immense bankroll. And even then, probably ridiculous. Even if a machine was 102%, I would not play $25. That's just way too steep for my meager gambling budget.
At 97% I play one last time briefly, then head home, making sure the management knows my opinion that lower pay tables do not necessarily mean more casino profits, and to get in touch with me if they bring back something at least semi-playable.
