playing strictly quarters avoiding hand pay? wouldn't the gov, lose money by paying te worker to go after the small fish?
i can't imagine someone being paid 50+grand a year to go after the guy who makes 10 grand a year?
could you argue you lost it all at the table games? lol

im sure it can happen, but has it happened in human history? playing only .25 would not yield a hand pay which means only you and the house is tracking whats going on, if the casino decides to let uncle sam know about your ending's each year would the gov win? that's two things need to go wrong the house needs to let the gov know and 2nd the gov needs to pursue you on a low level win again they have bigger fish to fry, i don't believe its ever happened..yet

Huh? How come? Most years I am in the red - a good bit more than you. A time or two I have squeaked out a small year end profit (which yes, I did pay tax on).
When you play high variance games for dollars, often with Dream Card, sometimes multi-line; W2Gs are just part of the game. It sure is great to hear the jackpot jingle though.
I've always felt that as long as your gambling losses are reasonable when compared to your income and the rest of your tax return lacks red flags (home office, excessive charitable contributions, business losses, ect) the IRS will leave you alone.
And if I am ever audited, I have nothing to hide. I'll just bring my evidence: bank receipts, gambling logs, win/loss statements, ect. and state my case. I doubt I'm headed to the electric chair.
But, I would avoid playing games that will trigger a "just barely" taxable - like a $1200 quarter progressive or $1 TB+ (where any quad aces pays $1200), or $5 DDB - unless you are sure that you can itemize. And, the rules for itemizing have changed greatly in the last few years.
I'm certainly no accountant, so don't take it from me.

Facetious quip. I got gun shy last week. But I will resume gunning for my first hand pay soon.
