We are told legal video poker is random and their is no difference in the RNG's results from one casino to the other. Other than issues external to the processor, I have never seen a video poker machine that I suspected had a "rigged" RNG. If there are any, I doubt I would know as random can do lots of weird and incredible things.

I have played video poker all over this country. I have played at casinos where I can't win no matter what I do and others that seem to hand out money. At one time there was a forum member who complained about an excess of "dud" hands in AC. I suppose he meant hands that don't pay anything. I once had the unfortunate experience of going almost two days without a quad. I was playing at the dollar level at the time and it was painful. Funny thing was, this same casino was where I had my biggest daily win a few months earlier.
Phil; I have not taken the time to pull the numerous posts you made about the trip to Atlantic City you made with your wife, you know the time when you or your wife got sick and cut the trip short, but I seem to recall that you were questioning whether or not the game(s) were rigged. Several people responded to you and took an opposite stance and you then chalked it up to something other than a rigged machine. I may take some time and dig these posts out just for clarity.

Guess I better forget the casino tomorrow and go fishing. The winter flounder are here and there are always some Striped Bass hanging around. On the other hand, we have been invited to a charity dinner tomorrow to benefit children with cancer at Mohegan Sun. I must go to that. If it shortens my time here a bit, so be it. That event is so important. There will be some really good ball players there too like Gary Sanchez and Christian Vazquez

We discussed this in detail on the other forum. What my wife and I witnessed in AC was real. It happened numerous times on multiple machines. It had nothing to do with the RNG. I believe it would have passed the scrutiny of the regulators. The problem was with the hold buttons. Whether this was due to poor maintenance or was intentional, I do not know. This malfunction would have seriously affected the accuracy of the play and significantly increased the house edge. We reported it to the floor manager. He chose not to respond. We left and will never go back.

A casino can "cheat" you legally. Have you ever noticed the best machines are sitting in the worst places? How long will you sit under a dripping air conditioning vent to play a 99% game? Have you ever played a machine with bad buttons? Have you ever reported a machine problem and found it untouched when you returned the following week? All of these things and more are used to increase the house edge. They are all legal.

While we were in A/C, our rooms were fully comped for three nights. After we found this problem, we left after one night and went to a casino where we had to pay full price. Thankfully, Olds442jetaway was able to get one of our nights comped. There were no such problems at the Mohegan Sun.

I agree with the lack of maintenance at the Borgata. But I have never seen the same card get discarded and come back as you have said Phil. Trust me I have been looking for this since you posted about your trip.

We had never seen that before or since. Trust me, it happened. The fact remains that casinos are using poor maintenance to increase the house edge. Have you ever seen a bad button on a penny slot? Not a chance.

My favorite machine at Mohegan Sun is the one that pays 800 for bet one at the dollar level. It is located in a smoking section at the end of a row in a high traffic area. Right next to it is a stinky waste basket. I had to go high up the ladder, but finally got the basket moved. There is also a cold draft there. Due to the smoke, I rarely play it anymore unless nobody is in the area. Even then you have to bundle up because of the draft. I did hit it some years ago for 18,000 and several times for over 2,000 bucks. However, for me its not worth the discomfort and health risks anymore to play it. It also doesn’t like twentys but takes hundreds ok. The sound system in it is shot and muffled static. They never fixed either.

So envious; I'd love a two hour session on 800 nirvana!I'm currently struggling with the best casino machine being cheek by jowl with a TITO machine, as described in my AC thread. Thank you, mid level flunkies. This can be pure agony at peak hours, I'm sure. I won't be there to find out.

Both the Tampa and the Hollywood Florida Hard Rock casinos have recently undergone significant renovation. You may have seen the new guitar shaped building on TV during the recent Super Bowl broadcast. This amazing building now dominates the Western Broward County skyline. Along with the building renovations, both casinos installed a number of new video poker machines and slots. The odds on the new video poker machines have been significantly downgraded to 97% or worse. Both casinos left a small handful (3-4) of the old machines with the better odds. I assume they did this to satisfy a few savvy players.

These old machines are always breaking down. They are not in any hurry to repair them. If you wish to play the best odds in the house, you have no choice but to play the old machines. There is no casino competition in Florida other than a few Racinos with even worse odds. There is an offshore day cruise casino only offering 8/5 DDB.

Forum members who have access to decent video poker games don't realize what others have to deal with. It's not always a matter of playing any game that's offered. In many cases bad games are the only choice we have.

FP we were at Hollywood about 2 weeks ago,pre-cruise, and the best we could find was 9-5 JOB.
Did we miss anything? I neglected to review your past posts which covered machines there.
VPFREE gave the ones we found as the best available. So we did a quick-hit-and-git.
The four of us came out $165 ahead with one quad each. No help from me, i only broke even, but as you well know, lot's of days that's a really good day.
