Aces Bonus Poker

Post by FloridaPhil »

We made a trip down to South Florida last weekend to visit with my son and his family. Of course we had to drop by the Hollywood Hard Rock for some video poker. The four clunky old 98.9% quarter Deuces Wild machines are still there and my wife played them the whole time. I think she lost $40 all weekend.

Hollywood just put in a dozen new video poker machines. They are sit down machines and very comfortable. Deuces Wild is not on the new machines. I played a game that I had never seen before called Aces Bonus. It traditional Bonus Poker with a 4,000 coin bonus if you hit 4 aces that spell out ACES on the cards. I looked it up in my software and that game is not included in my VPW software. I went online and found the strategy. I like this game. Bonus Poker is a mild game, but it can get somewhat boring. The ACES bonus make it exciting so you hang with it longer. The cycle for the ACES bonus is huge, but I missed it by one card twice on Sunday morning. Anyone else ever played it?

There are tons of those games in AC on 7/5 version. The ACES jackpot happens every 300k hands and it adds about 0.27% to overall return. (Or it happens 1 in 60 four aces you get.)

Just ignore that payout of 4000, it doesn’t happen a lot...

Strategy wise, I don’t think ACES bonus makes strategy any different.

I believe the only major difference is in the case of two pair with aces and two of the aces are in the right position, you would only hold the aces. That game is not listed in the pro section of this website either, so I don't know the exact strategy.

For 3 aces on position like the dealt full house ACEKK, AKESK or KKCES etc, holding 3 aces are better for sure.

For 2 aces on position, I don’t think it’s worth holding single pair of ace coz 2 pair pays double wager. I can calculate it later. I may be wrong.
