How many different video poker games do you play?

Just curious about how many different video poker games people play. Here's why I'm asking:

For many years I played nothing but Deuces Wild and Bonus Deuces. My play was never perfect, but it was pretty solid - on training software I could maintain 99.9% of EV more or less indefinitely. I have recently been learning Double Double Bonus. The results have been fairly horrific. Not only am I slower to pick up the new game than I would have expected, but I am now also making the sort of big mistakes playing deuces that I have not made for a very long time.

The situation is improving, but this has been a stark reminder that I do not learn or think nearly as quickly as I used to. It has also made me wonder how many varieties of video poker it is wise to try to play on a regular basis. What do you guys think?

I would learn jacks or better first , its not too difficult and there r still a lot of full pay job around . it returns 99.54 % with optimal play and a relative low variance of 19. I did say optimal play so practice until u r 99.9% accurate ! then maybe learn pickem . pays 99.953 % with optimal play but f pay pickem is drying up. pickem should be relative ez to learn .

Switching between Deuces and non-wild games within a gambling session is a bit tricky. You have to remember you're playing Deuces otherwise you might hold a random Ace or face card.

As for me, I play a lot of different games. I try to play the highest EV for wherever I'm at.

Some of the games ive played a decent amount in the last decade include.

Bonus Poker
Triple Bonus Plus
DDB
Double Bonus
Super DDB
Deuces Wild
Double Deuces Wild
Bonus Deuces Wild
Bonus Deluxe
Jacks or Better
Pick 'Em (Pick-A-Pair)

I don't know them all perfectly, but I have a pretty good grasp on them.

There is the newest game I have hit a quad on Deuces Wild Double Double Bonus.

Switching games mid play is challenging. I play Deuces Wild most of the time. If I ever play Double Double Bonus, it's as a pot shot and never for an extended period of time.

DDB is the most popular video poker game where we play. It's also a huge cash cow for the casinos. All those people feeding buckets of money into the machines for hours waiting for quad aces pays a lot of bills. I frequently play 10/6 DDB on this website. If I could play that game in a casino, I would. It would increase my bankroll requirements considerably. I prefer to play games where my money lasts and there is a decent chance of a significant jackpot. Deuces Wild is that game.

I believe you will do better if you find a game you enjoy, learn to play it well and stick with it. If you are strictly a "for profit" player, you will need to master a number of games as you will never know where an opportunity will arise. Recreational players have more choices.

Still waiting on dealt Aces since I've recorded all quads over 6 years ago. Only dealt ones left, Aces and 9s. The last session I had, met up with pokerpokerpoker, HE got dealt Aces on TDB on 50c single line, but he couldn't draw the kicker. Doh.

I personally believe games like Ultimate X and Super Times Play have been a major contributor to the increase in player losses that has been reported over the last ten years. Multiplier games increase coin-in. The variance is significantly higher than the same traditional single line game. Many times the odds are worse as well. Some players love these games and they pay a price to play them.

I believe if you stick with traditional single line video poker games, your money will last longer and you will do better in the long run. There are exceptions like finding a left over multiplier, but most multiplier games I see are big time losers.

It is possible to have a bad day on any game at any time. Jacks or Better is easiest on your wallet. I hardly ever play it because I find it boring. Double double bonus is a reverse ATM. Most experts consider it unbeatable. If you can play 10/6, the cost will be less. Bonus Poker is a compromise. It plays like Jacks or Better with better incentives. Bonus Poker often has better odds in smaller denominations.

I have been playing Deuces Wild for over ten years. From my experience as a recreational player, it offers the most bang for your buck, especially in today's negative game world. Others may have different opinions.

Recreational players like me know they are going to pay to play, so we choose our games based on entertainment value. No matter what game I choose to play, it's not entertaining if I go home with my wallet consistently empty.
