At our age, we all have something going on. Our area of Florida has many elderly residents. As deacons at our local church, my wife and I are assigned a list of people to watch over. We call them, visit them if we can and make sure they don't have needs either physical or spiritual. The loss of a spouse is devastating. It's one of my greatest fears. The only thing you can do is dwell on the good times. You made someone's life better and they did the same for you. My wife and I have been together since we were teenagers. That was a blessing from God.

Smoking is a huge problem in casinos. No matter how much ventilation they put in, it never seems to be enough. That is one of the reasons we like Colorado so much. All casinos in Colorado are smoke free. Tampa had a large non smoking casino until their latest renovation. When they moved the non smoking casino upstairs, they left out the video poker machines. I gave them a bad review for this on Google and sent the slot manager an email. The last time we were there, they moved six video poker machines from the main floor to non smoking. Good for them.

You bet! Or should I say I bet?

When I read what you folks have to deal with on the tax situation, I am thankful that we (all of Canada, not just Ontario) do not have to concern ourselves with taxes on gambling wins, as they are not considered to be taxable income.

Those of us who play some in the US though, are not immune to the IRS. Jackpots that would generate a W2-G for you get us a 1042-S, and a mandatory 30% withholding. Thankfully, we have always managed, so far, to recover the withheld amount by filing a 1040NR tax return, and having the IRS accept that we have a net US gambling loss for the year.

Great. I could never understand why they call it gambling income. Except for a huge progressive win, how many people at the end of the year really have a net gambling income? Of course my state doesn’t want to hear the word Net.

Prayers your way OTA and everyone. I recently lost my college roommate to brain cancer. He had just turned 70. Just before I retired 16 years ago, I lost another best friend at age 46 to brain cancer, and when I was only 7 lost my grandfather on my dads side to brain cancer. He was 54. No words can express what needs to be said, so I will just continue prayers to everyone. I’m ok now, but have had 5 bouts of skin cancer. Entirely my fault. Spent my youth in the sun trying to maintain that nice bronze color. Never cared for hats especially in the hot sun.
Thanks Olds. Cancer is a *****.

Americans love taxes as long as they don't have to pay them.

Our most skill-based contest would be the Monthly Contest. Both with regard to strategy and also game selection. I would love to see which of our forum members can score the highest in that one.

Perhaps a dedicated thread... anyone posting in the topic qualifies and I will post standings of all participants at the conclusion. A free month of Gold membership to the participant who scores the highest (but more importantly supreme bragging rights).
Webman, my score for the March monthly was 82,825. How does that compare to the other regular posters?

I don't want to randomly look people up. I'll start a topic for April for Forum participation in the Monthly Contest.
