Gov Murphy in Nj has asked people who have summer homes at the Shore to not come down and to stay in their primary residences. Noticed several of my neighbors who have second homes down in my town are here. Quite honestly, I would do the same. If you had a choice between staying in densely populated area, with major crowds at the stores, or a less densely populated area, what would you do? Almost 20 cars in the queue at the Starbucks in Wall Twp. NJ at 8:30 this morning. Why would anyone wait a half hour for a $ 8 dollar cup of coffee?

tasters choice coffee with some clean boiled water is very good ! costs apx. 25cents per cup ! 8 dollars for a cup of coffee leads to one question , is there a doctor in the house ??

Old's you were much more of an outstanding citizen in your youth than i was. I was in Lauderdale sniffing
1959-60-61.
No perceived national crisis back then.
Applauding the stories of public servants, and health care workers, on the front lines. stories not often enough told.
I have a daughter who is an RN. I am nervous about that but still proud.

"AMERICA STRONG" !!

Don’t like to blow my own horn. We all did something good and hopefully will continue to do so. Everyone stay well. We have Drs and nurses as close relatives in the family. Praying for them every day. On another thread, we can talk about our youth wild times anytime. May lighten things up a bit.

I have enough coffee from casino stayovers to last years. I’m one of those people that when McDonald’s had their large coffee for a buck would drink it and get a refill for my fridge. To me, it was just as good the next day. Maybe cause as kids, we made it in the woods like cowboys abd pretended it was good.

Just a quick before story which might offset some of the good stuff. My last year at UCONN, 1970 , the courses went pass fail because of so many student protests over the war. Besides my gang going to all of the SDS rallies as anti-SDS crowd, on a nice day, we all piled into my old galaxy convertible fishing rods in hand and took off for one of the great fishing spots nearby. Of course we stopped at the Pakey, but since we were broke we only had enough for 2 quarts of Miller high life at $.51 a quart. Anyway on one of the back roads to the lake, I took a corner too fast and one of my hubcaps flew off and bounded over a stone and split rail fence into a field. My buddy said I’ll get it and ran over hopping the fence. He had a red bandanna on because it was a hot day. What he didn’t know is there was a mean bull in that field that immediately went after him. Luckily he was able to grab the hubcap, shoot it like a frisbee over the fence and hop the fence like an Olympic hurdler just in time. We were laughing our asses off so much we couldn’t even drive for a few minutes, so we broke out the beer before we finished the few minutes left to get to the lake. As Paul Harvey R.I.P would say, and That’s the rest of the story.

I have been chased by a bull myself and it's not fun. My buddy from high school and I used to hunt and fish out in the everglades. People don't know it, but much of the everglades is crisscrossed with hard pan roads from failed real estate developments. $10 down and $10 a month would buy you a piece of paradise (at least that's what the salesman said). We hunted out of an old Nash. It wasn't legal, but no one cared back then. I would sit on the hood with a rifle and my buddy would drive with a shotgun hanging out the driver's door. At night, we would drop the seats in the Nash and camp out.

One evening the Nash broke down and we started to walk back to the highway. The Seminoles have huge cattle farms in that area. We decided to take a shortcut through one of those fields. We were almost to the other side when we heard the sound of a huge bull charging right at us. We barely made it over the barbed wire fence throwing our guns over first. Neither of us said a word. My buddy reached in his pocket and shoved a big plug of Beechnut into his mouth. "That was close" was all he said. We made it to a farm house and called his father. The next day his father came out to get us and his car broke down too. Those were the days.

Wasn’t a 48 Nash was it? My dads first car. A club coupe. He bought it in 1953. I still remember it had well over 80,000 miles. I walked a mile or so to school every day even kindergarden. The only time I got a ride to school was my first day of school. I think that was my mom’s doing. Still remember dad letting me step on the starter button. That was a huge deal to me at age 5.... Guess I better move on. This is a broad topic thread and I’m off topic, but the stories get my mind off things for a bit.

Old's, discuss our youthful wild times? Has the statute of limitations run out?
