our lives are being changed as a result of the virus and government mandated precautions. someday it will end and i wonder what might happen after. FP has said he may never go back to a casino, i wonder how many others might do the same. before the virus, american households were spending more at restaurants than at grocery stores. will folks decide they have been spending too much eating out and change their habits? will employers discover they can have more employees working from home, thus reducing the cost of office rental? people are being more cautious about their personal hygiene habits, will this continue?

or, will everyone just say the hell with all this new stuff and go right back to the way things were?

Old habits die hard. But this is such an extended mandatory hiatus that casino trips may just fizzle out of my leisure plans. Alternatively, I can just go there broke and finally engage with the actual environment beyond the CP banks.

Maybe the world will realize that the totally devious Chinese leadership needs to be isolated as much as possible. Make more products ourselves, especially the critical ones, insist on a level playing field when
dealing with them, and stop their out-right theft of intellectual and scientific property.
If they fail to change then consider sanctions, whatever it takes. But to make this happen the world would have to unite like WWII.

Maybe the resulting collapse of their state sponsored economy will lead to regime change and a first step on the road to democracy. Far fetched idea? Probably. Possible? I believe so.

tech, hope you are right. but, globalists and those only interested in making a buck, see those 1+billion potential customers and are too eager to accept the rules the chinese have mandated.

the best hope is if the cost of dealing with them outweighs any profit.

Who knows. I think they told us shutdowns of 2 weeks, but I think they are thinking months. Even Kohls closed today. My sister lives in Sonoma, Cal. They are under a mandatory shelter in place statewide and predictions are 25 million people in California will get the virus which is well over half the country. Let’s hope they are wrong because at the current death rate, over 500,000 people would then die in California from the virus.

Yes, this is true. We need to be prepared for this, and therefore assume this will be the case. Some of these projections are calculated by super computers that run all scenarios with all mitigating factors. People need to really wake up and start taking this more seriously(which recently, the streets have become less occupied finally). I have seen kids and families gathering in large numbers around here with beers lined up on the walls, people hugging kids running down the street and talking in close proximity etc. Multiple food cart pushers selling food and drinks which includes homemade foods like tacos and tamales, and all running around with no sanitizer and nowhere to wash their hands. Quite a few people get offended if you say anything too. There's NO racism or rudeness in telling someone nicely to please cover their mouths when they cough, to distance themselves a little further away from you or someone else, or even not to host a large gathering. It's time we not only work hard on these things to protect ourselves; but also to protect everyone else around you and even many more as the level of contagious of this disease could easily stem from one person's mistakes to possibly thousands of others or more. Please be considerate and don't let your guard down. Take care everyone.
