Connecticut casinos will have a limited opening June 1, but only residents of Connecticut and Rhode Island will be allowed to go for now. There will be following the usual protocols temperature, masks, etc. only take out food and on and on. There will be spaces between machines and I believe table games allowed with spacing, changing cards and dice etc. Tomorrow I’m going to call and see if I can Find out about smoking if they say it’s allowed I probably won’t be going. I don’t see how they could require everyone to wear a mask in fact they are handing them out at the door and allow smoking at the same time but you never know they’ll do anything they have to do to make money. Well this sucks. Just got an email from them. Guess I will not be going. Everybody will just drop their masks, hold a butt in their hand, and the non smokers will drop their masks and just hold a drink in their hand.

Correction to Ct Casino info. Evidently out if state residents will be allowed, but there will be no out of state buses. The HUGE disappointment is they are allowing smoking. That pretty much kills everything for me. Oh well, maybe save 50k or so this year. Stayin Alive is number one though.

Congratulations to everyone among us who refuses to expose themselves to second-hand cigarette smoke at casinos during the COVID-19 situation.

Yes indeed, coronavirus is definitely transmitted in second-hand smoke. This is not just something to watch out for in casinos. It is a concern everywhere. If you are sitting in your living room with the window open and someone walks past on the sidewalk 20 feet away smoking a cigarette, you could be exposed not only to the dangers from the cigarette, but also from whatever else might be brewing in that smoker's lungs.

To me, it is beyond belief that casinos are getting away with allowing smoking right there on the casino floor in the midst of a deadly pandemic. To require the usage of a mask except for when someone is smoking is laughable. A chain smoker, or someone simply dangling an unlit cigarette from their mouth, is now exempt from the rules? Oh please....

It's completely unfair that a small segment of the population --- the smokers --- now have license to kill. But that's what it is. Take no chances. The casinos will still be there when either the COVID-19 outbreak is over, or when more enlightened leadership has its way.

As for the smokers among us:
If you have ever considered quitting, now is the time! Your ability to survive COVID-19 is diminished by your smoking habit. Lung scarring and airway obstructions begin almost immediately when the smoking habit starts, and the progression continues for the rest of your life. It is a weakened respiratory system that puts a smoker so highly at doubt for a good outcome from contracting COVID-19. While quitting will not allow the damage to be substantially reversed, it will marginally improve your odds of surviving COVID-19. And, even if you never contract COVID-19 in the first place, quitting will greatly enhance your life and extend your years.

I wrote our Governor today about the smoking issue. About 12 years ago, we took the Indians to court and won forcing them to obey our State liquor laws and in fact, the State is very strict on them with it. So so much for this Sovereign Nation BS. This is life and death. Basic workplace safety for the workers and for the rest of us. I don’t know what kind of response I will get, but the news has been featuring the Chiefs of the casino touting everything they have done covid safety wise and not a word about smoking. Not one reporter has even asked them on camera if they are allowing smoking and why. No doubt they are told not to ask. They open here 6/1. Maybe with the first 50k I save this year by not going I will have a giant party for the gang here. Sorry no smoking allowed!

Not at a casino i guess :D

I totally agree that public health should trump the sov. nation thing.
At the very least they should be required to post a notice to all patrons entering that smoke CAN carry the virus! My home casino passed that recommendation on to "the appropriate personnel", yah right!!
Let them try to fill the place with the 12% who smoke.

It's time to get rid of the whole "sovereign nation" mantra, period.

why shouldn't casinos (and other businesses) be opening, especially in states other than NY, CONN, MI and the other hard hit areas? everyone knows or should know the real facts by now. if one is over 65 and has existing medical problems, stay away. but, why should others not be able to enjoy themselves and earn a living.

consider the following facts:
-83% of all chinese virus deaths are age 65 or older in florida
-let's just pretend that stat is the same across the country
-age 65 and older americans total about 15% of population
-so far, about 100,000 deaths in total usa due to covid
-that means that about 17000 folks have died, out of all the people under age 65, out of 270,000,000.
-i would guess that at least that many die each year from the flu.

older folks stay away, if they choose. take precautions, wear a mask, wash hands and let everyone else live their lives.

don't let the liberals, the media, those who want the pain to continue scare you. and, if one is scared, stay home, don't screw everyone else.
