Casinos trying to make up for Covid on our dime

[quote=tech58 post_id=136879 time=1596668298 user_id=49703 . . . . Many other LV knowledgeable posters on this and other threads have painted a bleaker picture
of compliance there. If smoking is allowed they are not serious!

I haven't set foot in South Point in at least 3 years. IMO, it rivals the worst air quality of any casino out there. I have neighbors who smoke like chimneys, so they love South Point, and collecting WalMart gift cards or gas gift cards (their typical promos).

Mind you, if you are that person who is used to gambling inside an ashtray, you may assume South Point is "clean" and follows NV mandates. In fact, so long as smokers are their typical customer, then it's reasonable to assume masks are optional at South Point. Masks around necks, most likely. Come on, let's get logical here . . . Of course, I don't give a fig about Michael Gaughan liking me personally, either.

Like you, olds, I gamble exclusively in the wee hours of the morning.

Lately, I find no reason to get out of bed for this. I'm okay with that.

Boyd comps have just about all been eliminated, including the "birthday reward" (which usually consisted of picking a balloon at the kiosk and getting 1000 points). Only thing they have going on is the 11x multiplier on Sundays, and Tuesdays for "young at heart". Keep in mind that it is $2 in for 1 point for Sapphire and above. I was playing at Suncoast last Sunday and when the cocktail server came around I asked for a Pellegrino water. She asked if she can pull my card to see what status it is. It is a Sapphire. They were recently told that they can no longer comp Pellegrino, Fuji water, or Red Bulls unless you possess an Onyx or Titanium card. For a small ass pony bottle of Pellegrino! Also keep in mind that it takes a minimum of $2,500,000 to get to the Onyx level playing 98.98% or better VP and $10,000,000 to get to the Titanium level. $50 in for 1 tier credit on these VP machines. Anyone who possesses those 2 cards flat out has a gambling problem, an endless supply of cash, or both! You can still use points in their restaurants for 40% off. Thats it. Sam is probably rolling in his grave...

Holy cow. I can’t believe that although Mohegan sun checks your card for certain beverages too. I’m not sure about Pelligrino. So this is what in Theory it costs me to maintain Soar status. Every six months, 4,000 points they call status points. On vp, 500 bucks through a machine for one point. X 4,000 points = 2,000,000 bucks every 6 months. If I am lucky enough to get 99 percent back, it costs me 20,000 bucks every 6 months. However my return is more like 98 percent so 40,000 bucks. I won’t hit that level again. The only reason I have it now is they upgraded me from Ascend due to the virus. I would rather have the new Mercedes and in a year one for the Mrs. too. Oh wait! She should get hers first.

I'm seeing the same attitude out there as Sea Lion.
I used to get a Perrier or a Fiji water bottle from the servers at two different locals' casinos.
Now, they claim they can only offer the tiny house water bottle (we have called it "toilet water" for years, only because I think the bottles are filled straight out of the faucet, so it's not like it's distilled or filtered).
I've read rumors that Sahara is going to be the first casino to shut its doors. Dominoes falling.

They pulled Fiji water at Mohegan months ago. It’s the best.

The good ol' budget water that is on par with the budget house salad, you know the stuff that hits the floor when making the premium salads so nothing goes to waste

Sahara should have grabbed their old sign from the boneyard instead of trying to appease the younger "entitlement" crowd...

Olds, I think you have put a pretty good dent in your overall cost of gambling the last few weeks.
