Casinos trying to make up for Covid on our dime

Post by olds442jetaway »

Mohegan sun which is my home base casino has thousands of slot machines and before the coronavirus had dozens and dozens of 99% machines. Of course they would tell us this is all because of coronavirus spacing, but they have closed all but six 99 percent Machines in the entire casino. Luckily for me, I usually play when everyone else is asleep. But for the average person, you might wait hours trying to get on just one of these machines. I took a look at how they did it and there is no way it was random. In fact, they closed play in all of the bars that had 99 percent machines even though they could have easily removed every other barstool. The bars are not open anyway, so why not just let people sit there and play the machines they are used to playing. The answer is obvious they are trying to get back all the lost money for the last several months on our dime and in no time.

No doubt your right OLDS.
Here in MI. their tactic is not yet to eliminate low advantage play but rather to cut back on comps!
August free play, bonuses, and other comps has been based on play in Jan. Feb. and Mar..
Two of those months people were sliding into quarantine and half of Mar. they were closed!!
I pitched a b!tch on Fri. to players club supervisor. His response: "rated on play and everybody was treated equally". To which i responded: "screwing everybody equally does not make it right".

Had an equal time waster conversation with host supervisor. His response: "it's a business".

Twenty minute break from losing worked out well though. Called in queen of spades for a $2K royal six hands into next session.

Great! Just rewards and then some. That is the only way we can get back at them except to not play. When you learn the trick of hanging onto it, let me know. We used to post about lock boxes and so forth. Late in the game I am getting much better with discipline

Discipline is key. The problem is when you hit a big hand early. Who wants to stop right after arrival. That happened to me the last time I went. Then again, I needed to get out of the house. I was there to spend a couple of hours to unwind, etc. So I left about even but my objective was achieved at the cost of $4.00.

Olds, you do not need a lockbox. Not when you are on a roll like you are on playing with the houses money. Nice position to be in. Maybe they are loosening up the machines a little to make up for the lack of free play. Sometimes I think they can do whatever they want with the payback on games despite the fact the random number generator is supposed to assure that all hands are random.

It sure seems that way. I know one thing. When I play on the computer for fun using a very good wolf video poker program, the swings are nothing like the ones at the casino. The lose cycles are much longer at the casino. Unfortunately, much of the so called house money has been returned to them. I usually don’t bore the gang with many of the horrible losing sessions we all experience. It is certainly no fun to go 6 or 8 hours on job without a single quad, but it happens.

OTABILL. couldn't agree more with discipline. I have had a few times I have hit early and shut it down. Most of the time I am willing to put some of it back but not all of it. Those breakeven trips are nice as well. They are a win in my book. And if I am losing I have a certain amount I am willing to lose per session and that's it.

Finally got the ATM under control this year. Feels good, though I must admit hitting the ATM has bailed me out many times. Biggest concern now is staying safe and well. Hard to concentrate just on playing. I have to get on the casino’s case more on mask enforcement. More and more people are dropping their masks below their nose and leaving it there. The nose is the gateway to the virus due to certain proteins in there that enable the virus to invade cells. As a matter if fact, I am going to sign off now and send guest relations an email about it

I agree with you on looking at a break even trip as a win and not to blow passed the amount budgeted for the casino visit or trip. However, circumstances and purpose can change the equation regarding when to stop. Why are you playing and where? Driving 35 minutes to a local casino for a few hours to get out of a funk is different than stopping off on the way back from a day trip. as is hitting big at the beginning of a three day trip to Vegas. These are considerations for casual recreational players that differ, I'm sure, from that of an AP/pro.

At Bally's AC, the bank of four 9/6 DDBAF (99.46) went from 10:1 TC to 50:1. Very difficult to accumulate at the quarter level. A shame, but at least they didn't downgrade the paytable.
