Smoking restricted for good?

Post by tech58 »

Could the fresh air in casino's possibly be with us long term?
Have noted many post's on many threads about casino's doing very well on reopening.
Their deathly fear that a smoking ban would hurt business may not be true
Have talked with many casino employee's,all of whom are extremely happy with the change in their work environment.
Have also talked with 6-8 smokers in their outdoor area (from up-wind of course). I go out there to warm up once in a while. The casino AC is way too cool for me and i can warm up out there without the re-entry process.
Only two of the smokers were upset by the change, but it would not stop them from going to casino's

The casino where i play has an easy way to make the restrictions permanent. They have a closed in,well ventilated area, that was created as a smoke-free room. It is about 10% of the floor area but without table games which could be added. Make it a smoking area.

This could be a transition solution and lead to a long term shift to a much needed smoking ban

I hope they follow Massachusetts lead in Connecticut and make the ban permanent. I am very skeptical once the virus is pretty much eliminated and hopefully it will be that they will do this. If they go back to a indoor smoking environment in Connecticut, I am done with them in Connecticut.

The casino customer will eventually decide the issue. The 90% of patrons who are non-smokers have to stand up on their hind-legs and vote with their feet.
If enough non-smoking casino option are made available, and they do it successfully, the industry will have to follow.
Wishful thinking? Probably.
States could do it for regular casino's as they did for restaurants, stores,
and other places.
Indian casino's would be a tougher nut to crack. Customers will have to handle that one.

That’s right can’t rely on government. They enforce the state liquor laws on the Indians, but not employment non smoking rules? Guess the state is too worried about the possible revenue loss, but not the health of patrons or casino employees. I have tried over the years even going as high as the former Attorney General of Ct before he became a Senator. I knew him when he was in private practice right out of law school. Fell on deaf ears.

Restricted for good? Highly doubt it. One can dream though.

It’s such a pleasant environment, if you can tolerate the mask. No loud CW transactions! No boozing bozos. Though I did spot a huge empty Hennessy bottle at a Harrah’s carousel. Bad maintenance! Still there from last night’s revels. No ashes. I could get used to this.

I hope all casinos will be smoking free from now on, at least casinos should start to build a dedicate smoking area, so non-smokers won’t suffer and get sick.

Spot-on HH!!
I have to admit that i think less about long term and about any ill affects(i should).
My thoughts are about the awful stench and a desire to take a deep clean breath at that moment!
