Hitting it "BIG"

Post by TripleTriple »

Relax, this is not a documentary. I have no life-altering exploit to share (yet). That's why this is posted here and not in Stories. But after reading about a few (stories) here and there, I wondered what everyone would consider both a "real good day" and or "hitting it big" in the VP realm? If breaking even is a real good day, I suggest you practice more!

Personally, I've had a few real good days, most notably about five years ago when I hit an 8K royal, then another royal later that day. At the time, I considered a five figure day would be hitting it big, but my perspective has changed. Now I would consider 10 or 20K a real good day, but hitting it big would necessitate six figures.

Hope to post in Stories soon. A real good day would be nice to share.

Several years ago there was a forum member named roveer who would regularly post stories about his sessions along with pictures and winnings would be in the 25,000 to 35,000 dollar range.

My personal best day ever was for slightly over 18,000 dollars and my single best individual win was for 15,000 dollars back in 2001.

There was a woman who got a dealt royal for 200,000 dollars this past February and one forum member's daughter, Carrie, has hit a slot for over 100,000 dollars twice within a shot period of time.

As for what defines a real good day? Everyone is different and if you ask 100 people you may very well get 100 different answers.

A good day for me is I woke up this morning and if I feel like it, I can jump in my car and head up to the casino. Mentally, I’m still 18, and physically maybe 40. That’s about it.

Ha, yes, a good day is when I wake up and can count to 21, fingers, toes,...

Not to disagree with TT's comment about breaking even, but a "Hail Mary" Royal or similar hit to get the
BR back, can make even feel pretty good.

I would say I have had many good days since playing VP around 1995 or so. Of course there were much better games back then. I have hit 3 $8,000 dollar top line royals on 9/6 JOB multi-strikes at Borgata. Had an incredible day where I hit 2 royals and 2 other Aces jackpots for another 8k day. Multiple days, maybe 20-30 of hitting 4k or higher royals on dollar single line VP. Many of these came on the now long gone dollar All Americans at Caesars AC.

Yes, the Hail Mary premium quad to haplessly recoup BR and eke out a profit has been my primary source of pleasure. I recently raised the stakes and await my first hand pay.

Sweet C had one of those nights, we started out at Isle of Capri, she accidentally hit max play and caught an $8,000 Royal, then moved to a progressive caught a quick $1,500 royal. We moved over to Lauberge du lac and she caught deuces for $1,000 and on a $5 machine caught Aces for $,2000 then began hitting quads. She ended the night over $14,000. My best hit was a $10,000 dealt Royal on 50 hands 5¢. I'm still waiting for that big 25¢ multiple-hand dealt Royal-the 20-25 hand type. ;)

My best hit was also for $10,000, but the other way around, i.e., 5 hands 50c. It was quite a day for me. It wasn't too long after I had sat down and started to play (5 line 50c 9/6 JOB), when, on a two or three card draw, I hit a royal in hearts.

Then, a half hour or so later, came the big one - a dealt royal (in diamonds). I was by myself that day, and there was absolutely no one else around with whom to share my excitement. I sat there, and said over and over to myself: I don't (insert your own word here) believe it!

After that, with my new found wealth, I switched to 10 line 50c. And, a little later, again on a two or three card draw, hit another royal, this one in spades.

I was up to seven royals for the day, with royals in hearts, diamonds, and spades, so when, still playing 10 lines, I was dealt four to the royal in clubs, I don't have to tell you what I was thinking. Alas, the draw was a total whiff, and, unbeknownst to me at the time, this was the beginning of a royal famine following that magnificent feast.

I finished the day up $13,200!

Seven royals? Wow. That is an embarrassment of riches.
Unfortunately this thread devolved into stories of big wins. What I was looking for is what Tedlark said, different responses that answer the question. I guess I'm thinking more hypothetical, but also realistic given typical betting levels.
