Re: Safety in casinos

I just spent a weekend in downtown Las Vegas at the Cal. With Hawaii travel at a crawl, there was never even a concern about the virus there, I would be way more likely to get covid at a grocery store. Like the earlier poster said, all the Boyd places check temps, and the restaurants at 25% capacity were empty. It would have been nice if the Cal had a giftshop/convenience store open, or any other food open besides the one cafe, but its understandable.

Circa, however, was like a nightclub on Saturday night, and on Sunday during football it looked as busy as anywhere I have been pre-covid, Golden Nugget was the same. We walked in and got back out quickly. I always liked Fremont Street, but its a loud party now with weed smoke everywhere and people packed together. Overall, Vegas was still better than the local places in Ohio, where our governor instituted a 10 pm curfew, which turned the casinos from being lightly busy throughout the day to being super busy with the compressed hours.

Regardless of the virus, people should always be careful. At places I go I'd have to say the percentage of guys that wash their hand on the bathroom is likely 50% at best...

I play at 2am, and have the place mostly to myself. No smoking or drinking, and mask compliance of the few VP players is decent.

My biggest gripe is the "clean team" spraying the buttons on the slant-top machines - causing them to stick. I play pretty fast and have screwed up a few hands. Once, the deal button stuck and the machine played a few hands for me.

I’ve had my fill of the Clean Team. What an annoying presence. They’re not even fast enough to hit vacated machines in the first place!

Where I play, the Clean Team doesn't care about your social distancing. I believe they wait until I sit down, and then they rush over to fumigate the disabled machines on either side of me. At least one crew member sprays the fluid into the air above the surface, allowing it to drift gently.

Into my face. But no problem because the four-inch warning label on the bottle probably only exists for reasons of legal technicality. At the slot club they spray down the desk every time between customers. If you have to sign a paper document, the residue turns it black.

Haven't played in a casino since Covid started. Casinos are just not clean places and allowing smoking during a respiratory virus is really stupid. I am 73, have had stable metastatic cancer for 17 years and don't intend to die from a virus. But, man I miss those trips, the free rooms, the poker machines, the fun people watching. One positive, found out I'm not as addicted as I feared!
Got my first vaccine, hopefully after the second shot I'll be out there playing (with a mask). Already looking at my offers from my favorite casinos.

Stay safe and well all. Where I play, the cleaning people seem to try and do their best, I just wish they wouldn’t wipe down the empty machines on either side of me when I am playing when there are other banks of machines totally empty. I am taking a break from the casino as of yesterday. I found out one of the regular servers in the lounge was exposed to another employee that was positive in the employee cafeteria. He is now quarantined He was my server last week at least twice. I am getting a test tomorrow just to be on the safe side and won’t be returning until I am sure it is negative. Even then, like I already started, when and if I go back, no more dining there. People drop their masks and leave them off the entire time they are in the lounge. Also some of them tend to get very boisterous and loud laughing etc. which can send the germs really flying a great distance. I noticed most of the mask noncompliance in the gaming area meaning they have their big freaking nose is sticking out is from European patrons and especially Russians. The Asians for the most part seem to be pretty good with their compliance as far as the masks go. Some of the younger people are even worse than the Russians when they get drunk. There is some enforcement but not enough people to take care of it at Mohegan sun. That is why for the most part I have played in the overnight hours. If I was really smart I wouldn’t go at all, we’ll see how things go after I get my test results. It was also just on the news they are trying to find out but have no idea yet why the UK virus is so much more contagious. The jury is still out on that. Seems like every day the science changes as does the virus

That's why it is science...we keep learning. Hopefully.

The C OVID has really hurt the Casino world. With so many people lost to this virus I think we should be very careful of visiting a Casino until the vaccine has been distributed . I love 0lay8ng at casinos as I lived in Bulkhead City As just a few miles from Laughlin Nevada and honestly I think I was at the casinos more than I was at home. I sure miss the excitement of the win at a casino and hopefully someday will be in back again. So for now I will stay safely at home playing on VP.COM

Yeah, I played almost three hours today at two casinos and broke even for my trouble. Plus we have horrible weather. Stuck in a highway standstill due to an accident up the road. It wasn’t worth it.
