You know you're a degenerate gamblers when...

The lighter side... playing for entertainment, less concerned about "the math."

You also purchase lottery tickets at the casinos.

This is Problem Gambling Month. I think that people should basically cut way back, to an hour per trip. You really don’t want want to stay. Road to Perdition. Of course a lottery machine on the premises is completely despicable.

Funny thing is, the Lottery Commission here was one of the biggest opponents to the Detroit casinos getting approval back in the mid 90s.

Yes they do. In fact Japan is in a panic now. They have only vaccinated 3 percent of the people, but dumped over 25 billion into the Olympics so far. Medical staff according to the news is completely burned out. By the way, Mohegan Sun has the lottery machines and you can buy tickets at several of their stores. I never go near them. When the powerball or Mega or whatever they call it gets up 1/2 bilion

AC gets the Philadelphia TV feed. NBA playoff ads were littered with the new PA Lottery ad. They neglected to mention the $20 price amidst the comedy.

Hope the Olympics are cancelled. 2 weeks of constant coverage of things i am not interested in. The Olympics were interesting back in the cold war days when we had villians like the Russians and East Germans. The 1976 USA Boxing team was the best. The Spinks brothers, Sugar Ray Leonard, Howard Davis.

I don’t understand the néw basketball 3x3 format. It will alienate about as many people as it will draw. I never liked everyone using their pros to begin with. Plus the whole perpetual Russian bankroll situation. We’ve come a long way since Athens, and it’s been a very mixed bag.

Remember our boxing team well. Those were the days we actually looked forward to watching. I did very well as a kid amateur boxing except when my opponent figured out I had very limited vision in one eye from birth. If it wasn’t for that I think I would’ve had a shot at a local or regional Golden Gloves. Anyway ancient history now but because of that eye, I was a terrible fielder in baseball but had a great arm from third base to first. And with the one good eye that had 20/18 vision, I could read the pitches coming in and pulverize the ball The same vision problems caused me problems in football so I ended up mostly playing intermural sports. We all grew up really enjoying the Olympics in the 60s and 70s it just isn’t the same now

U.S. lotteries have the worst odds of any form of gambling. With a casino, there is at least a reasonable and known percentage of return. With horse racing and other sports gambling, research improves the odds. With a lottery, the percentage of return is so small as to be statistically zero -- in effect, a lottery is simply a tax on people who are terrible at math, and other than not participating at all, there is no way to use skill to improve the awful odds. That our state governments not only participate in this lawful theft but actually fully organize and promote it is beyond immoral.
