Absolutely!! And when I am on the road too. Coming home last week about 4:30 AM, I thought I saw a wrong way driver which I have seen before, but it was someone that had already spun out, destroyed their car and was facing me at the edge of an exit ramp. I stopped just about the same time as a trooper was showing up in back of me. The young man appeared ok, all airbags had gone off, and he didn’t appear to be drunk though he was still seated in his car so I don’t know. The trooper said he didn’t need help so I left for the rest of my only 10 minute ride left home. Guess someone was watching out for him too. I’m at the point now having seen just about everything you can imagine on the road, I say a prayer every time I start my car.

I have had 3 deer strikes in the past 10 years. In all 3 cases, I did not hit the deer ---- the deer hit me. Insurance covered me all three times, less deductible. Other than the deer strikes I have not had an accident since I was a teenager, so I consider myself to be a decent driver. However, with deer there generally is no warning, no evasive action to take. I try to watch for bobbing yellow lights reflected back at me ---their eyes are the best indicators of deer at night. But for everyone who talks about poor lil Bambi --- you have not been hit by a full-size deer running flat-out into the side of your car. I say open hunting season year round with no limit!

Correction to the above: There was no deductible, my wife reminded me. It was on my comprehensive so insurance paid 100%. If it had been a fault accident there would have been a deductible. My bad.

I also notice more nuts on the road. I have never seen more serious crashes in residential or in the shopping districts.

Yesterday we came across a 4 car crash in front of a gas station. All 4 vehicles destroyed, cabins filled with deployed airbags, radiators hissing, ect - in a 35mph zone.

A few times in the 30mph zone by my work I've seen cars upside down or on their sides. You'd reckon they would just be fender-benders, not serious crashes.

I find that the Indian casinos provide almost as good quality with much less of a drive. Sure it isn't Vegas but if you are driving to and back the same day you are likely not partaking in the other things that make Vegas great. And I would not be refreshed driving there. I have done same day weekday flights from LAX to Vegas when Southwest and Spirit had the price war. $29 one way flights. With airport travel time about the same duration but much less stress. Now the flights are $39 but still not bad.

Love to drive. Hate to fly dealing with all of the Bureaucratic issues connected with flying. And now with Covid surging you couldn’t get me near an airplane even if I was strapped onto the wing to escape covid. One thing I have to get though is break out my shooting glasses or go get some new ones. The glare from the new white headlights coming at you totally cancels any view of the road ahead. Need to do this ASAP.

Olds, the new LED headlights should be illegal, or at least modified down. I have had several close calls on narrow two-lane roads that were caused by the LED headlights. Especially bad are when the LED lights are on a newer pickup, so they are higher and more likely to be right in your eyes. I try to avert my eyes to the right hand fog line, when it exists, to avoid the road blindness caused by the new headlights. With as many complaints as I hear, I am amazed that the new headlights are still being allowed.

No, what should be banned are the multiple L.E.D. light bars that people are putting on the front of their vehicles. In Illinois a vehicle can only have a maximum number of white lights in the front illuminated at one time (this is why on a 4 light (low beam/high beam - high beam/low beam) vehicle also equipped with factory fog lights, the fog light automatically turn off when the bright lights are turned on).

Arrggg.....

My biggest concern with these lights are pedestrians walking on the right side of the road with traffic wearing all black at night. You can barely see them anyway and when these white lights hit you from oncoming cars or trucks you can’t see anything anywhere. Unfortunately most people are too lame brain to walk correctly and wear clothing that motorists could see
