Final 2022 Casino Trip

Post by onemoretry »

Our final casino visit in 2022 was Seneca Niagara, Dec.17-19. My wife's birthday is Dec 17, and in late November she stated that she wouldn't mind going to Seneca for her birthday - so that's what we did.

Often, particularly on weekends, traffic on our route there is quite heavy, but this trip, it was as light as it gets, which is always a pleasant surprise, and we got there in just under two hours.

Before we left on the 17th, I played a bit on this site, and, on a total five card redraw, hit a royal. I couldn't help wondering it that could possibly be a good omen. My play on the afternoon of the 17th certainly didn't support that idea, though, as playing 5 line 50c bonus poker, I finished my session down $1300, after being down even more before a late mini-comeback. It was a very, very frustrating session, with many, many draws for good hands, but almost no connections.

My wife, the birthday girl, did hit a royal that afternoon, on a four card draw to the jack of clubs. It was a good thing, too, as she was down about $1800 when she hit it. She finished play that afternoon up by $100.

I was so p.o.ed by the Saturday results that I decided on Sunday to keep track of the number of draws to trips, quads made, etc. And, wouldn't you know it, the numbers came out OK. Again, playing 5 line 50c bonus poker (that's about all we play there now), in about 2100 deals, I was dealt trips 52 times (one per 40-41 deals), and made a quad 11 times on the draws. That works out to about once per 23.6 tries, which is just about "right". I had 17 other quads in the session, so, overall, I had one quad per 375 hands.

You would think with those favourable numbers it would be a positive session - and, it was, to the tune of $3100 (which included a royal). My wife, unfortunately dropped a few hundred.

Monday morning, we played some more, and it started out grotesquely awful. After about 45 minutes, I was down $1000, and hoping to just hang in for another half hour or so and finish no worse than even for the trip.

Then, I was dealt four to the royal. Given how the day had gone so far, and many other recent whiffs on four to the royal draws, I feared for the worst, but instead, and for the first time ever playing these five line machines, I connected for two royals! After that the rest of the play improved, too, and I won back $600 of that $1000 to finish the session at plus $3600. Included in that final half hour was one remarkable two dozen or so deal spell where I was dealt full houses three times, and a quad, once.

Unfortunately, my wife lost a bit more, to finish the trip down $1100, despite her royal, but, for a change, I managed to more than cover her loss with my $5400 win.
