That is the version we have omt. Does not have any varying quad pays only 35 for all.
I tried it before but my guess is the variance would be higher than JOB. It ate me alive.
According to the Wizard of Odds, the variance of that version of "bonus poker" is 20.7, as compared to 19.5 for 9/6 JOB. That's a wee bit higher, but not even close to that of some of the crazier games.

I put bonus poker in quotation marks because, to me, the game is not bonus poker at all - it is simply 8/5 JOB with an enhanced quad payout. Nevertheless, it has a higher return than normal (8/5) bonus poker, and is definitely an OK game.
Thanks omt did not know that 20.7 number. Not as bad as I thought. Maybe give it another try.
Quite often get Quads at 150-200 hand frequency. If only I knew. :?

Fatal Friday. I won my $25 Caesars table FP on a four craps hit. I won $33 on my $25 machine FP on dollar BP. I tried quarter JOB and hit a quad. Under a half hour later, dollar quad deuces. Off to Resorts. I hit a quad in twenty minutes, including off card play. A machine couldn’t recognize it. I tried to get a Resorts 45 bag and was told I only played 11 minutes and had no points. Back at Caesars, two small quads and bust. Net Day: -$500. 254 TCs.

Feeble Friday. I won my $25 Caesars table FP on a ten point hit. I won $35 on my $25 machine FP. Off to Resorts. The grass wasn’t any greener. Four machines were all tight as clams.I quickly lost $80 on the first two HLs. I played for almost three hours and had a medium quad on the lone 7/5 I tried at the end. Back at Caesars for -$40. Net Day: -$218. 18 TCs.

Could be worse I guess. I have discovered one thing with 9/6 JOB. You must be dealt 3 of a kind. Even if you cannot connect on quads, many times you will connect with a full house thus limiting the damage or even be able to stay around even. Assuming you do not hit a Royal or straight flush or are not dealt a quad, your goose is usually cooked and quite often well done unless those three of a kinds continue to be dealt regularly.

Like quicksand, it’s innocuous at first sight. I haven’t noticed the dealt treys to tread water session. Most important for me is the FH with regularity; otherwise the machine is an absolute killer.

Yes. The dealt threes usually will bring out the full houses unless you or I are in a total dud cycle. I remember Bob D commenting on one of those. If I remember he lost somewhere around 25 percent of coin in some years ago.

Fatal futile Friday. I lost my $25 Caesars table FP on a four to out. I won $43 on my machine FP with a quad Aces. Off to Resorts. A quick small quad and nothing in the next two plus hours. There are none so blind as those who will not see. Taking a Resorts break. Leaving plastic home. Lower ceiling/lower floor low roller play. Net Day: -$515.
