Thanks dinghy for some good info..
Mostly aligns with what seems to happen for me. I stay weekly and am always assigned to the highest priced room, except for suites. About a year ago I asked for a change but it never happened. Their obvious reason is to fill rooms that are tough to sell at $300 a night.
Friends I know, who stay fewer nights, seem to get higher FP.

Only question would be the 5% theo. for VP. Is the average player really that bad? Some look very bad but 5% would be tough to do. Except for the refugees out of the poker room. Their unbelievable.

My FP is always broken into small pieces throughout the week. I guess they know it is pretty easy to get me up there.

My FP has varied quite a bit, based on a 3 month moving avg. of coin-in, but it is loaded on Monday and good for the week. They have two casinos and FP available at both in varying amounts. We stay there as well, but the rooms are half as much, maybe part of why FP is same at both for April.
There is also a bonus day, 3-4 times a month, of the same amount as your FP

Just dawned on me we, mostly me, owe otabil an apology for hi-jacking his thread. :ouch:

I'm no expert, but most clubs over-reward VP because it's commonly $2/pt for VP and $1/pt for reels. Or some variation on that. So maybe the average VP player is losing at 3 or 4% but being rewarded at 5%.

Actual VP loss rates, I don't know. The most popular games are TDB which is usually 1.8% or worse (played optimally), and DDB at 2.1% (although sometimes 1.0%, for 9/6). I suppose players could easily lose 1 or maybe 2 % points to mistakes. Some popular carnival variants such as Ultimate X are more difficult to play optimally.

We're definitely ranging wide with the discussion 8-), but I was inspired by the reader who happily plays uncarded all the time. I have to think he has no idea what he's missing out on.

No apologies needed. We all deviate from the original post from time to time. However, in this case you are not deviating. One of the points made in the first column I referenced was that playing anonymously is unwise since you will be losing valuable comps without achieving anonymity. If you haven't, suggest you read the column and the rest of the items included in the magazine.

Read the column you noted. Totally agree on using a card, always do. As mentioned previously total value of resulting comps. is easily into six digits.

Rough estimate for Mohegan Sun VP is 500 coin in for one status/tier point. You need 1400 of those every six months to maintain the Ascend status I have. Quite a chore and not cheap to say the least. It comes out to be roughly 700,000 in coin in every six months. Figuring between playing inferior pay tables and mistakes, I guesstimate my return at 98 percent or so. That still gives them 14,000 bucks every six months on 1400 status points. Often times, I approach 2,000 status points every six months so of course they rake in even more coin for themselves. Playing on Triple status point days can help cut the losses a bit. Free play cuts it a bit more. We have a new rule. For every 20 bucks in Free play, we play 16 hands on 9/6 JOB at bet 5. Those funds go home and aren’t touched that day. Covers most of the tips and a little extra toward the gas.

We may have a tougher nut to crack than you do olds. 480,000 points at $2/point pushes $1M/6 months to hold top card. And that is only good for lowest tier within Diamond
Ascend top card at MS?

In fact my plan for this year is to drop down a card level and see if high end of Platinum might return as much as peon level Diamond

Like your plan on FP. I have evolved a great deal. Let my wife play all the FP, a sneaky way to get her to go most two day trips. It also has paid off. She plays an average of $400-500 per week and stays pretty close to even at least not far from 99.539%. She also has a purse like a bank vault. She assembles Benjamins and when they go in that purse they do not come out. Most disciplined player in the casino.

My Mrs too. The top card is Soar and there are levels within that. There is an ultra high rating too that isn’t even advertised. Like AP, I have been Soar. It is just not worth it. I’m fine with the Ascend level. With Soar, you have to earn 4,000 status points every six months.

Your Mrs. is a gambler and a lucky one at that. Read many posts about her hits and hope they continue.
My wife is more of a harvester of the low hanging fruit. :D Luck not being a major factor.
