Three Interesting Subjects with US/Canada VP Relevancy in April AZ Gaming Guide

Post by OTABILL »

Three columns in this month’s guide discuss matters that are applicable to VP players regardless of where (State/Province) or what type of casino (Commercial/Tribal). The main takes I got from them are:
1- Whether you use a player’s card or not, the casino can identify you and compile your personal information. (Players Talk)
2- The new Aristocrat Bar Top Units that include VP, the paytables are so bad, they are not worth playing. (Video Poker Corner)
3- Cashless gaming is coming, and it may be a nightmare for players. (Sami’s Smackdown)
I recommend you read this month’s edition. https://issuu.com/arizonagamingguide/do ... YTE1NzMxOQ

Thanks for sharing OTA, always an interesting read.

I saw something else on page 4 that is worth noting - April 27, 2023 is National Prime Rib Day.

Thanks Ted

For those AC Amphora Lounge aficionados.

I did edit the post for clarity.

I got a feeling the casino I play at might be going to cashless gaming. About 6 months ago seem to be testing this on free play. After downloading say 100 bucks and after say playing off 50 you decide to move to another machine you cash out what you won on the 50, pull your card and the other 50 goes back on your card. Would not take much to go all out cash on card from here.

Interesting is one way to describe it. My jaw hit the floor a couple of times.

Topic #1 was initiated by a reader who plays all over and hates player's cards. Never uses them. Nor his wife. The only reason is they want to be anonymous.

Interesting. I guess they're partly anonymous, but other people can see them at the casino. And they aren't anonymous if they ever hit for $1200+ at the machines.

Do you ever look around the casino to see how many people are playing uncarded? It's very common.

Topic #2 is penned by video poker expert Mark Novak.

Never heard of him. He likes the Aristocrat bar-tops, but "just don't play the video poker."

Because the pay tables are bad. Funny thing, pay tables vary by casino. Some casinos have 99%+ vp on the Aristocrats. South Point has 9/6 Jacks. Others have 8/5 BP.

Ah, but there's another reason:

"Maybe if the pay tables were better, I'd consider playing, but as the unit doesn't feel like an IGT game, and I suspect the RNG is different from IGT's as well, I don't. Neither should you."

How much did IGT pay you to say that?

This is why I'm often skeptical of rigging allegations, because people just make stuff up.

There is a way to find the truth. Pay $299 for a 90-minute session with a slot designer:

I missed topic #3.

Harrah’s Ak-Chin Director of Surveillance sticks out like a sore thumb with that eyesore of a dye job. How ironic!

Regarding Aritocrat paytables, you are correct in that they can vary from machine to machine. I should have modified my comment by saying apparently poor. Thanks for catching that.

Same here.

No problem at all, ota. You were just summarizing the content. I hope you don't think I'm shooting the messenger.

Olds, would you care to estimate total benefits you would have missed had you always played uncarded?

I don't have accurate records, but I'm definitely into 6 figures lifetime.

The mailers, free play, achievement awards, drawings free rooms ect. are all part of the equation of an edge and how much !! no card in , no advantage. I think. I smell wood burning lol.
