The Path

Post by FAA »

Spanning the town to bring you the constant variety of VP...the thrill of victory...and the agony of defeat...the human drama of VP competition... This is "FAA's Wide World of VP!" Welcome one and all. Fall is approaching as DAA completes a year of TRs. This seems an optimal time to begin my own here. My prior TR thread had low readership, amid the relative apathy for the AC section in general. This thread's end date will be determined by my next Royal Flush. I hope for a brief shelf life indeed and that this wrinkle spurs some interest.
I had an exhausting but profitable three days of play, with trips Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday. Net Results: +$110, +$125 and +$52. Yesterday is both the freshest and most notable. I entered marathon level play for me, 4.5 hours. I began at a Caesars dollar JOB at 11:10 AM with $123 and a $25 voucher. By noon I had my $75 quad and $390. I normally run at this point, but was so deluded that I felt that a SF or even RF was imminent. By 1 PM I had $345. At 2:45 PM I had a record 261 TCs in the session, but $4. Time for a round trip stroll to ponder my predicament. Lunch at Tropicana. $60 ATM nearby gratis withdrawal. I always ensure this point after a loss. Back at Caesars I tried quarter JOB to ignite some confidence at a more manageable level. Within fifteen minutes I hit a $19 quad and left up $22. As per normal on weekends, there was a husband and wife team on hand to annoy. The wife next to me was clueless; the husband sat on the last seat and did the holding. Cigar man arrived to usurp his seat, so husband was now uncomfortably hovering over her behind me. Two cues to leave. Back to the dollar bank, at another machine. Winning came pretty easy and I cashed out after a $50 quad and 22 TCs between quarter and dollar appended. I left AC with $255; $25 from a craps nine hit. Very mixed feelings. I was extraordinarily relieved to finally exit in the black. But I gave back $195 in winnings. A pathetic stubbornness besets me.
My goal is to earn Platinum in 2016. I am at about 1500 TC, with 3500 to go. If I ever hit 500 TC in a day, CET will give me 125 TC bonus. But at my pace and budget this is about an eight hour commitment.

FAA ask yourself this: what would be so different in my play if I were CET Platinum vs. Gold? Then ask yourself if it's worth it.

My Gold has tarnished by frequent trips over three years. Purely aesthetic and whimsical goal, granted.

Just a pro forma update. I crashed on the path, a victim of an unplayable casino. Three crushing  JOB losses totalling about $600. I'll try the behemoth next door and the Monster of the Marina next.

Can't you get platinum by simply obtaining a Harrahs credit card? Not that it's worth much. It used to get a waiver on resort fees in Laughlin but I think that went away.

Oh yeah. If I simply want to change this tarnished Gold color on my card badly enough I should simply do that and end this quixotic foolishness. Your credit score does take a brief hit with the activity, so there's that.

Keep up the reports.  I love playing with someone else's money.

Really? You're classier than that. Was my anguish not conveyed?
Was my anguish not conveyed?
Perfectly.   I enjoy your reports.  Your descriptions of the people around you and your feelings as you play are hilarious.  They chould be a movie or a TV show.  I can picture cigar man coming into the scene...

Hilarious when I was wagering chump change. I'll have to revert to that and stay off the dollar machines, which I have no business being on in the first place. I'm bringing 80% less bankroll from now on, just like the old days. It's been my most painful month by far!
