     I know this is just pure luck, but here is what happened. I was sitting at the bar at Mohegan Sun in the end seat watching the high scoring Yankee Red Sox game last night and playing Job so I didn't have to think too much. The machine was colder than my ice cold beer and before I knew it I was down 300 bucks betting 1.25 at a time. It was a no points 99 plus machine.
     When the commercial came on, I switched to regular deuces wild. The first hand was a wild royal followed by lots of good hands. I never hit quad deuces, but before I knew it 180 of the 300 lost was back. Then that machine went ice cold and before I knew it, I only had 100 of the 300 lost back.
     On the next commercial, I switched to Joker kings within the same machine. In just a couple of minutes, I hit back to back quads each one good for over 20 bucks. Don't ask why I did this, but in my mind I said I really wasn't supposed to hit the second quad back to back and I considered it gravy. I switched the Joker Kings game from quarters to dollars and decided to take two pot shots with most of the winnings from the second quad at 9 bucks each. The next several hands returned money back. The one after that dealt me 4   6's with the joker. The draw produced the other 6 and good for an 1,800 payout. Pure luck of course, but I think for the next few sessions at least rather than just leave an ice cold machine I am going to try just switching games within the same machine. We will see what happens. Just a side note. This was the same machine that Florida Phil caught 4 3's with a kicker within fifteen minutes of beginning his play at Mohegan Sun last week.

Anything that can happen, will happen.   Over the years I have tried some of the craziest things.  The nuttiest was when I played Deuces Wild and switched to DDB on a run up.  Everything works on occasion.  They all eventually fail and you move on the new "Strategy of the Week".   It's all part of the fun.  If you want a game without player interaction, play Buffalo slots.

Who keeps gambling after -$300?! Oh, yeah, somebody with $600. Congratulations. I am feeling that 99 no points itch now. If I stay at the quarter Progressive bank FOR THE DURATION tomorrow, I should approach Break Even.

Phil is right of course and its all part of the fun until your long awaited New Haven pizza comes out soggy, loaded with grease, or burnt to a crisp. Luckily, up this way, that rarely if ever happens....the pizza not the play. By the way, if either of you get back this way before Sept 30, I should be able to get a mid week room comped. After Sept 30, I turn back into a pumpkin as far as my player level goes at Mohegan Sun.

Strategy of the Week: Quarters For Duration (QFD).

As everyone here knows, I played single quarter CS for two years and it produced a small profit over that time.  I have had a lot of time to think about this and what in fact happened.   Play single quarter video poker is like leaving the casino.   It's a loser of course, but it's more like a drop of blood a minute instead of a bucket.    Then there was the agony of living through short coin royals.  On top of that, you won't be getting any free play or free anything if you play like that.With the money I saved playing that way, I was able to take a lot of dollar and $5 pot shots.   A few of these were incredibly lucky.  I hit a number of $1K, 2K and one $4K royal and four $1,000 $5 quad deuces.  Each time I would go back to single quarter play to fill in my time.  I played more hands than I ever had before or since.Winning this way was pure luck.  When you hit something good, it was wonderful.  When you found yourself staring down a $62.50 royal it was heartbreaking.   I eventually switched to max coins, took fewer pot shots and my free play and comps recovered.  I wouldn't go back to CS unless I was 90 years old and living on my SS check.Everything you can think of works at one time or another.   Sooner or later they all quit working.  Here's a sign in the Player's Club at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi.  It's so true.

I contend that if you've "won" anything today, but are still in the hole lifetime, then you haven't "won" anything! You've only been REBATED some of your losses.

FP, I offer a bit of possible improvement of CS single-quarter play. Nickel 5-play. $200 dollar royals,less painful. I am forced to this play occasionally when my bankroll for the trip has been "Invested" sans REBATES and the ATM has resisted all pleas.
