Triple play for recreational players

I have been studying this vs. single line play for several months now. For games like DDB, Deuces Wild, or Bonus Deuces Wild, at least for me triple play seems to work best and keep me playing longer should I choose to do so. My situation may be a bit unique in that I have one quarter All Star machine I can play on quarters that pays 800 for the Royal for bet one. This is only a 97 percent or so game though. What I have been doing is keeping track of the better hands like 5 Aces, quad deuces, Royals, Wild Royals, and low number 5 of a kinds. My budget is usually 500 bucks and if I stay with my rules, I haven't busted it. Nearly every session, I have been ahead, but have not quit most times when I was a decent amount ahead.
The most important thing I have discovered is this......Sometimes on a single line game, nothing any good ever hits even in a long 8 hour session. With triple play, that does not seem to be the case. However, many times nothing hits on the center deal line and only the top, bottom, or both top and bottom hit. When that happens on a single line game, in 8 hours, you are going to get wiped out.
Friday night at Mohegan Sun is my most recent example. I played Bonus Deuces Wild 6 hours on that quarter triple play machine described above. I never hit quad deuces or a royal, but I hit 5 Aces 4 times. Two times on the top line and two times on the bottom line. That saved the session and I ended up even. I could have cashed out early on up 80 bucks but didn't.
There is one thing I do differently than most players and it has saved many sessions for me. When I am down an amount where hitting 5 Aces won't bring me to where I began, I raise my bet from bet 1 to bet 2. To put that in perspective, betting bet one and being down 80 quarters, I would need to hie 5 Aces at bet 2 to be better than even. If I hit them at bet 2, I return to bet 1 per line. If I still do not hit 5 Aces or better at bet 2 and have lost another 160 quarters, I go to bet 3 per line and so forth. This is a very mild Martingale method, but I have also found at least in my months of trials that flat betting would have made me fare better than single line play as well. I haven't given DDB a long test because I just enjoy Bonus Deuces Wild better. Of course, hitting quad deuces or a royal is a Bonus. In one of my sessions, I was dealt quad deuces at the bet 3 level. That was good for 1800 quarters. I also hit a couple of royals in the trials, but only on one line. Still that was good for 800 quarters each time. One would need a much larger bankroll to play this way on a machine where you would have to play bet 5 to get paid the correct amount for the Royal. Otherwise, you run the risk of hitting a short coin royal. On a limited budget, I wouldn't worry too much about hitting a short coin royal. They are so few and far between. At least you could play longer if that is what you like to do, but when it does happen, one always gets that sinking feeling.
