I'm sorry if this question has been answered before. I searched the forums here and didn't find the answer.Can I create a custom strategy for an existing game and then get the software to analyze it? I'm not talking about changing the pay table. I mean to insert or delete holds or change their order. It would be best if I could make small changes to existing strategies.I can't see a way to do this in the menus of the software.Thanks in advance for any help!

No, I don't believe this is possible. Pay table changes will result in different holds as you said, but you can't customize specific holds and then do an analysis.

Too bad  There is a question on another thread about the cost of going for the royal more frequently and what the percentage increase in royals would be. This capability would be useful in answering these questions.Does anyone know of any VP software that can do this?

One of the advantages of Wolf VP software (which in the earlier version was called Frugal vp) has a section where you can change strategy lines around. That is, if you want to put RF3 about High  Pair, you can do it and it will give you the EV of that strategy.Unfortunately Jim Wolf seems to no longer support his software. Several of us have tried to contact him via email unsuccessfully. If you already have the software, you can use it for this. I'm not sure you can successfully purchase a new copy.

Dear Bob,   thanks for your advice and your books especially.I bought James Wold software years ago but after a crash computer I couldn't reinstallit and the setuip file was lost too.Do you know someone who could email em the SETUP, file to reinstall the program and play it in DEMO mode only?Thank you very much,Marcello (Italy)

I don't think there is any strategy that will win in video poker consistently. If there was, the casino's would change the game, else they would go out of business.

Certainly, for games with a negative return, playing the game itself will not be profitable in the long run. When combined with cash back, free play, promotions and other comps, it is possible to turn a net profit in some situations.
