If I lived in the US I would invest in series I saving bonds. You get 9.62% interest rate and can do 10,000 each year. What a great place to park some money with no worries.

Another quirky thing about these is you can buy them on the 31st of the month and earn interest as if you bought them interest from the 1st. It could mean getting 13 months of interest the first year. The bad thing is you have to hold them for a year and you lose three months' interest if you cash them in in the first five years.
