Thanks Ted. I like your usual hit and run methods. Requires extreme discipline as you know and it just fails sometimes and for me many times. If we didn’t like the games and playing, discipline wouldn’t be a problem. If I had followed the hit and run rules for all of 2024, I would be ahead a nice chunk right now. Now many of the math guys will say in the long run. It doesn’t matter. I still stand by my statement I made years ago that video poker is like a sine curve Tilted slightly downward and when it’s in or near the top of the curve, that’s when we have to bail out. Or if not bail out at least go back to playing small because we like to play. Oh well, I don’t think either of us are missing around with mortgage or household money so that’s a good thing.
Thanks, olds. I was more mad at myself than anything for not leaving sooner. I was thinking there would be more to come but not this time. Besides whiffing on not getting the 5 if a kind, I was also dealt 4 to the royal while playing TDB and couldn't connect on any of the 10 hands. Not a single premium hand while playing TDB at all, got small aces a couple times but could have used a kicker.
That’s one big problem. So if I had the discipline, I would say 10 percent of bankroll or 100 bucks on a 1,000 bankroll. It’s hard enough to make 10 percent in an entire year on investments. If my mind worked properly, it would tell me 10 percent in a day is more than enough! I have been ahead 100 bucks more times than I can count, only to bust later in a session. Unfortunately, usually with VP, time is not on our side….
It offers a 97.2% return. However, this game has very complex strategy and achieving perfect play is nearly impossible, which means you might realistically get a 96% return.
If you bet $50 per hand and play 500 hands per hour, that's $25,000 in coin-in. Your EV is -$1,000 per hour.
So... good luck with such an expensive entertainment~~~

Your discipline doesn't make any difference if you play the game without an edge over the long term. Eventually, you will lose your entire bankroll and more.
Without an edge, you'll feel like you rarely have a chance to cash out, ask for a check or deposit winnings into your bank. Most of the time, you'll find yourself withdrawing money from your bank. Your new bankroll will mostly come from your bank, rather than from your winnings.
