Harrah's NYE

Post by TripleTriple »

I had some lingering angst about my premature departure Sunday and decided to estimate my Tier Credit balance. I knew I had daily bonuses of 1000 and 2500, and also that I had over 10000 on the 5X promo. I came up with 140k and thought it might be possible to get the last 10k with the 10X NYE promo. On the 30th, all the bonuses were applied to my account and it showed about 140,500.

The promo was only from 4-7pm and I knew it would be busy. Should I drive over 4 hours to play for a couple hours in the hopes I could accumulate 1000TC? Would I even be able to get on 10:1 machines to generate fast enough? And would my depleted bankroll last long enough on high volatile TDB? I formulated a plan where I would arrive in time to check in, acquire funds, grab a bite to eat, swipe to activate the promo and obtain a seat right after that at 2pm. Then I would slow play at quarters for two hours until the promo kicked in.

Traffic interfered with my plan, so I skipped the lunch idea. Everything else though, went pretty smooth. I immediately went to VIP check-in where they offered complimentary plastic flute of house champagne, which I partook for good luck. Got a Laguna tower room just in case I decided to stay. Then I grabbed some coin, and swiped my card activating the promo. Completely emptied my bladder and was able to find a preferred 5 Star machine. I then played very deliberately at quarter level, actually hoping any huge hands would hold off until I played for "real". I probably played at 250-300 hands per hour, frequently stopping to look around and check my account. I purposely avoided ordering a drink so I wouldn't be uncomfortable later in the session. Even at the low denomination and slow playing, an awful lack of quads saw me down almost 300 in addition to my 95 free play after two hours.

But I was set up and loaded for bear. As the vultures circled thinking I was tapped out and ready to leave, I calmly added ten crisp Bennies, removed my card, checked my watch and slid back in at 4:01. Upped the denomination to $1 and played like it was a tourney. I hit a few dealt hands to tread water and then drew for quad aces for $800. After an hour I was in great shape to meet my goal, only a hundred or so down. The next 30 minutes was a real struggle though and I tapped out just after 1050TC. I tripletriple checked my accumulated credits and snapped a pic, then ducked out right around sundown, not to be seen again until 2025.

9 dealt straight
3 dealt flush
2 dealt full house
4OAK- 8,A
3 4RF
No kicker hands, no hand pays
1200+1000+10000 TC

I since emailed my host and confirmed reaching Seven Stars. Barely.

I realize it's an old cliche, but I'll say it anyway - isn't it great when a plan works out?

Congratulations. The first two hours were just a speed bump in retrospect. That's when I stagger out in a full on depression. I guess it's worth seeking out the Five Star multi denomination machines! Where?

Yes, I maintained my card level for another year. There was just one little problem- besides skipping lunch- a net loss yet again.

Two in the Cove and two others on the floor, one upright near Brigantine entrance along wall and one at triangle near women's room.

Okay. I will scout the Cove out. Do a nice slow stroll through. There’s no hurry to play anyway when the room is dead, which is often. No point constantly playing dollar and getting hammered either.

Ok, but if you play the ones in the Cove, you WILL be constantly playing a dollar. $1/$2/$5. On the floor 0.25/0.50/1/2/5. Same pay table though.

Thanks for the clarification. I know you're constantly in the Cove, which is strictly dollar territory. I'll just have to hunt down the other two then.
