AC Restaurants Update

Post by jetermacaw »

Our esteemed governor has deemed it ok to allow restaurants to resume indoor dining at a 25% level this Friday 9/4. Rumor has it drinks will also be allowed on the floor as long as you are seated. 😂🇺🇸

This would have worked during Saturday's soakers. I'm getting tired of the picnic situation.

what does everyone think is the proper policy, or thing to do here, as far as the governor is concerned? It seems to me there is no really good solution to the current situation, which is something that most people in society have a hard time accepting. The governor in this case seems to be trying to find some sort of compromise to accomodate as many viewpoints as possible, no?

Namely, sometimes things happen for which there is no ideal solution or action, that there will be pain and suffering and inconvenience no matter what you do; all you can do is try to minimize the bad or downside and wait for the situation to pass or resolve itself. With this whole Covide19 pandemic, that has been the problem in the USA from day 1, the powers that be have tried to always take the easy way out; if the USA had simply bitten the bullet early on like so many other countries (Germany for example) they would have ramped up testing as their first sole priority, mobilize every single medical resource possible, and just told the american public that for the next 30-60 days you are just going to have to accept that this is reality, that you cannot go about your business like normal, and then at the end of 60 days or whatever it takes, we will evaluate and see where we are at and go from there.... nobody did that, nobody said that, it was just a chaotic hodgepodge of points and counterpoints, people shouting above each other, etc. The capacity of american citizens to put up with inconvenience and pain is pitiful.

I’m inclined to double my time in restaurants and bars on trips. Two hours play likely tops before onset of disaster.

Removing two posts that got overly political. Which of course is allowed, but only in the Anything and Everything forum. I know there is a muddy line here... somehow we have to be able to discuss events in AC that will verge into how they are handled by the local politicians.

But veering off into the President or "liberals and Republicans" in general will surely just lead us down the path that other political threads follow.

Some people might just want to follow and discuss updates on AC Restaurants.

Let's try to keep this focused on the local issues so people who want to enjoy AC can get some info instead of the same political debates we have grown used to. For those, please head to Anything and Everything, there is plenty to keep you busy. Thanks.

This is from 9/2, Governor Murphy's response today during his conference about allowing smoking in AC casino's is a joke. He said it is the law that NJ casinos can have indoor smoking and it is what it is unless congress rewrites the law. Seriously! He closed businesses, limited indoor and outdoor gatherings, has how many states on the quarantine list? He did not allow indoor dining, drinking or smoking in the casino's when they did reopen, all for NJ's safety. Now, indoor smoking with indoor dining in casinos is allowed and all of a sudden he doesn't have the jurisdiction to disallow the smoking part for our safety during this long hard fight against the coronavirus. Hmmm, seems like it is what it is with whatever way the wind is blowing. Sometimes it's just all about the money, revenue needed, not our safety. I feel for the casino workers here. PA casinos and Nevada casinos all banned smoking for the safety of their residents maybe some how NJ will follow suit. And this from me when I called the governors office, "What makes this even more bizarre is that you have to be sitting at a machine to take your mask off to smoke, but you have to keep your mask 😷 on at a machine if you’re not smoking". You can’t make this s*it up. The next day 9/3 he reversed his decision and again banned smoking in all AC Casinos. Maybe my phone call swayed him.

ok obviously they are literally making things up as the go along. But thanks for reporting these details and your experience with the frustrating new Jersey government.

Wouldn't cigarette or tobacco smoke in general pretty much kill a virus anyway? Tobacco is a known pesticide and has anti-microbial properties.

I may be wrong but a virus such as Corona Virus (COVID-19) when airborne, could attach to smoke in the air and thus may remain airborne for longer periods of time. I personally would not want to find this out first hand.

If a person does not like what decisions are being made with regard to casinos in New Jersey they have the option of just staying out of New Jersey casinos. But this personal decision is way too hard and it is so much easier to just blame someone else.

Whenever someone smokes or vapes, they breathe out respiratory droplets. So if near someone smoking and you can smell the smoke, and that person has COVID-19, you're at risk of Covid.
