It was reported yesterday that Caesar's has been granted a one year extension by the Indiana Gaming Commission to sell its Horseshoe Hammond casino. Reasons given for the extension include COVID-19 impact along with uncertainty with Illinois gambling expansion, specifically in southern Cook County, IL.
This sale is one of the conditions accepted by Caesar's in order to close its merger with Eldorado Resorts. The Indiana Gaming Commission is actually requiring Caesar's to divest itself from 3 of its 5 gaming properties in Indiana, the merged company has already sold the Tropicana property in Evansville, IN last month and they are close to selling their Caesar's Southern Indiana operation by December 31st of this year.
They are keeping their 2 horse racing track casinos in the Indianapolis, IN area.
In other Indiana casino news, the much awaited opening of the Hardrock Casino in Gary, IN originally slated for right near New Years 2021 has been pushed back to spring of 2021. One of the reasons given for the delay was because the project was shut down in March of 2020 due to COVID-19 for a while and the only people working at the project site during this shutdown were the thieves who stole a whole a WHOLE bunch of construction tools. These thefts were not discovered until the workers returned to the site a few weeks later and the tools needed to be replaced before work could resume. On a related note: every pawn shop within 15 miles of Gary, IN reported pawning of construction tools had greatly increased. Gee; theft in Gary, IN? Who would have thought it...

Think of a fat guy sweating profusely for hours on end and then shoving your nose under his arm.

Update on Horseshoe Hammond - I received an email late yesterday from CET telling that they are keeping Horseshoe Hammond. CET made no mention of arm pits in their email.
