Re: Feasting with FAA
A trio of quads and a craps hit yielded poor profit. Austerity suggests an appetizer to tide me over. Bally’s Water Dog features quad shrimp wrapped in smoked bacon atop an orange glaze. Basil and extra virgin olive oil complete the delectable dish. The trick is using a fork to surgically extract the jumbos from the two thick skewers. Unwrapping them allows one to cut the bacon fat, saving calories. The bar stools cannot be more uncomfortable. But a happy hour win win nonetheless.

Using a fork to remove the shrimp from the skewers is not a trick but I can only imagine the theatre you put on while performing this act. Thinking about reducing the caloric intake by removing the bacon fat is negated by the greater calories ingested along with the orange glaze. Was it a delectable dish (your opinion) before or after dissecting the bacon? And if the bar stools cannot be more uncomfortable, is this again, your opinion or did you poll others? You could have stood instead of subjecting yourself to such an uncomfortable situation.
With the bacon fat, uncomfortable stool, and any other negatives you forgot to mention: you still manage to call it HAPPY hour? Did you reduce the amount of your gratuity by the amount of bacon fat you surgically removed from the meal? The shrimp did look delicious though, even with the bacon fat intact.

My small win today was no cause for celebration. But I wanted to experience the new Bally’s sports book. It was a rather sedate affair, as the $50 food and beverage minimum discourages patronage. However, Restaurant Week made this the best way to do BSB. Spicy Edamame is tossed in garlic, oil and sriracha. I had assumed that it would be cold, but it came in a hot pot. I wiped off the spicy stuff and made sure to discard the tough string on each end, which will never be digested. The grilled chicken Caesar wrap was very good. I cannot escape Caesar’s rule. The Red Zone Sugar Cookie is a cute treat. This feast is $15.21, so another RW was ordered. This time I got a raft of Crispy Tots. The waitress never asked if I wanted traditional or truffle oil and Parmesan, so I was simply served the former. She’s quite slipshod and not detail oriented; she would later forget to give me two boxes. My bill was still light. I got a GOAT Smash Burger and Amstel to attain the minimum. The burger was good enough with plenty of iceberg lettuce and tomato. Basically, only a big drinker or eater may consider BSB. I took home a ton of carbs between two heaps of chips and one of tots. Moderation in all things.

Water Dog encore. I had a couple of crab cakes, the best HH appetizer by my reckoning. They came on a bed of arugula and grape tomatoes. The vinaigrette was superb. Next time, I must bring my own rolls from nearby Formica for succulent sliders. Unfortunately, I chose the potato chips and blue cheese dip. This junk food is just empty calories and not worth most of them. You do get what you pay for. The bartender has Roseanne Barr’s distinctive cackling laugh, and often employs it. It’s almost comforting.

Does Formica's sell rolls? Grab and go?

Another Water Dog lunch to be enjoyed. My crab cakes prelude was now Loaded Truffle Fries (LTF). They contain truffle hot sauce, mushrooms, bacon and Parmesan cheese. It is truly unhealthy, but comfort food is necessary after a straight flush helps claw back $300 of bankroll. The cakes continue to be delicious. The arugula and grape tomatoes are such a nice touch.

Champagne taste on a beer budget.
What, no crab cake sliders?

Beer budget. I stopped by the pizza joint at Harrah's for a quick slice. 4 bucks for a plain slice, but a beer was anywhere from 11.95 to 15.95 for either a 16 or 20 oz. (didn't bother to find out) to go, no server, no glass, no entertainment. I opted to wait for a $2 Heineken on the floor. Earlier at the Laurel Lounge I inquired again- still no low fat/skim milk options. Don't they know that if we die, we can't lose any more money??

Looking at the picture of the fries, I am wondering if FAA was short-fried? Hmm...

Harrah's highway robbery. $4 casino pizza is actually reasonable. I was so busy on my 3.5 hour Caesars session that I didn't think to drink on the floor, a major casino benefit! I now realize that most players order at the very outset, before being absorbed by the session's ebbs and flows. The milk issue on the floor irritates me. My iced coffee is hit and miss whether it arrives black, as the machines don't allow for ordering options on iced. I tolerate light and sweet if that's what I get. When I do opt for milk, it's no/low fat. I prefer longevity as well. I know it's a joke, but you should realize Bally's salad crab cake item is actually costlier than Resorts sliders. Both iterations are excellent.
