AC Bluefish?
Where are the best places around AC to purchase some fresh bluefish on my way out of town?

At the fresh bluefish stand? You know: the one right next to the wet teddybear stand?TripleTriple wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 1:45 pmWhere are the best places around AC to purchase some fresh bluefish on my way out of town?

Could never eat Bluefish fixed anyway. Much too fishy for me. Some try baking with tomato and mayo on top. A good dill sauce might help. Round here, just walk down the end of the street and catch one when they are running.

But you can give me this any day of the week. Cod boat with very light batter. Local spot a mile from my house. Coincidence, the Mrs and I just went today. Too much food for one person. Awesome. Sit outside at nice tables with umbrellas. Beach is 200 feet away.

Nothing wrong with lightly battered cod, cooked just right, with a smidge of some slightly zesty tartar sauce on top.

Years of extensive research taught me that fish is just a delivery system for tarter sauce.
Anything but popcorn shrimp will work. Popcorn shrimp just doesn't have enough surface area.

It has been my experience that fresh caught bluefish does not have a "fishy" taste (which I abhor). I have had at a restaurant by the dock in Annapolis MD that was absolutely delicious. Other places as well. And of course, if you catch one and prepare it right away.

Good to know OTB. I have eaten many of the little snapper blues over the years, but have always avoided the big blues. I just either released them or gave them away.
. Now that I know to try one, I will dig out my surfcasting rig, Hopkins bucktail lure and head out to bring home the bacon er uh Blue. Should start running any time now. If I am lucky, maybe I will bag a Striper or Seatrout/Weakfish while I am at it. They all swim together just at different depths. The good part is I only have to head down to the end of my street about 1/4 mile. I bet on the grill it might be even better. Guess we will find out. Thanks for the tip.
