Simple math, without any class, should tell you that dumping the flush and going for the royal is the right play. Even when discounting any other paying hand you have a 1 in 47 chance at getting over 133x (assuming the flush pays 30) your money you'd win keeping the flush. This is a no brainer!
You would think so. The other day a woman sitting close buy was dealt a flush with 4 to the royal. She kept the flush. Mind you, it was on a progressive royal machine with the flush paying 25. Unreal! I have seen the same with 4 to the royal and a pat straight dealt. :roll:

As a local, no one goes to the Container Park, it's junk shops and lots of dubious folks about. Hard pass
Plus, errr . . . it's HOT here this week. Did I mention it's HOT?

Red Rock Casino is crap Station Casinos owned. Enough said.

Red Rock Canyon is okay in the HOT summer if you do the Scenic Loop drive only (no leisurely walks) and you do it when they open at 6 am.
I beg to differ with you.... Last trip in at the end of May, about 2 months ago hit 5 hand pays including a dollar royal in 5 days at Red Rock on the " up to 100.07% & up 99.8%" payback banks. Came home $5,500.00 ahead. :D

Remember, many of these people are, to our benefit mind you, very poorly endowed with basic arithmetic skills. Or just plain ignorant in the truest sense. I am not so vain that I admit to being corrected by a mature lady on 4 to a flush over low pair when I first started playing. Sometimes I think people behave as though they are playing real poker and are satisfied with a winning hand. And they are the same folks that sit down at the 7/5 game. We all started with less than perfect play.

I prefer to use the adjective " enriched" rather than endowed, but okay. :lol:

IMHO, there is just no excuse for the deplorable play by some players, who will choose to sit at $1 denomination machines. Then they play Deuces Wild . . . but never hold the deuce, because well, they think, it's just a two, let me hold that King instead. :roll: :roll: Saw this last month.

No one needs a "class" to learn VP. Practice free on any of several VP websites. FREE.
This is also a no brainer!

Hoping the OP comes back here and provides a trip report . . .

Excuses? Maybe reasons. Consider this scenario: a long-time player has very deep pockets, has hit all kinds of jackpots on all kinds of games. She knows the strategy and though she could play near perfect- she has had the best luck playing her way. So instead of the proper play, she tries for longshots and favors red suits. Always holds the A-10, holds kickers with a pair, dumps all 5 indiscriminately.

Her husband plays 1200 hands an hour and likes Zombies and Daiquiris. He likes to play all types of games and plays them pretty much all the same way. Doesn't even realize what game he switched to.

I would offer to buy the hand from her and pay her more than the 25 credits.

Even worse, she had a friend with her.

People you know? Very close to you? In the same household maybe? ;)

Asking for a friend . . .

Here is my trip report :)
========================================

Fun:
First off the Mob Museum was great. We did 2 experiences, the police simulator and the distillery. Both were great and then we hung out in the speak easy for a few drinks and the sliders (also great). Awesome place and a good time. Thanks for the rec.

Fremont:
Was surprisingly more fun than last time. Almost did not go but glad we did it was a lot more entertaining than our last visit.

=================================

Food:
Ate at the Mayfair in the Bellagio it was pretty good they had live Jazz music.

Ate at the Eiffel Tower restaurant which for the first time was disappointing. Seemed like they just rushed you in and was trying to rush you out and food was not as good as it used to be.

Ate breakfast/lunch at Giada in the Cromwell it was fantastic!

Ate at Yellowtail in the Bellagio which was a huge disappointment especially for all the good things we heard about it.
============================

Gambling:

Paris seemed to be the most consistent on the bank of $1 machines by the Restaurant. It was a progressive machine that had progressives for anything over a full house minus the SF. Got enough quads to stay afloat, hit just about everything minus the RF or AWAK. They had 2 banks of $1 progressives and the RoyalF hit on both within the 6 days I was there because they both got reset at some point. Had some even luck in High Limit as well on the $5 machines mostly played Bonus Deluxe.

Circa
Was a train wreck the only thing giving out money there was the ATM. Nice casino and it was nice to see Vegas Vickie all cleaned up.

Resort World
Also was a train wreck nice casino but I would not make the extra trip just to see it again. And to me it was laid out in a crazy way. Even the food places were all named so weird you had no idea what sort of food they served. Even when reading the menu. Seemed like they were just trying way to hard.

Binion
Had some good luck at Binions and I think they even had 10/6 DDB at the bar! 200 for the SF but I have not seen 10/6 DDB in a long time. Got enough quads to keep even.

4 Queens
Did not have much for VP so mostly played some slots. Cashed out a $1600 ticket on Buffalo so that was a fun 30 minutes.

Aria
Was pretty tough on VP, I did have some luck on a heads up Texas Hold'em slot game I had never seen before. Also played some bank of progressives that had some crazy number for a dealt royal or maybe it was a seq RF can't remember the details like $440K but they were brutal

Bellagio
This is where I had most of my luck hit a $5,000 RF DDB progressive next to high limit. Drew the J hearts to fill it in. Got paid on that and about 2 hours later hit another $1 RF next to the elevators play Deuces just passing time. Held 3 and filled in the other 2 (no photo was to tired . That one was a surprise.

NY NY
Always been a fun place for me to play not sure why. Hit several nice lines on Spin Wheel Poker got the 100 hands to a FH and got 9 of them for an extra $1,000.

MGM
Terrible.

Venetian
Terrible to crowded to even move.

Had a couple of other hand pays just playing some random slots Wonder 4 Tall Fortunes at Treasure Bay I think and Double Gold Bars was at Flamingo I believe.

vegas2021.jpg

All in all a great trip, stayed a week and had everything paid for and brought back some cash so I call that a win. Thanks for all the tips and feedback.
