Bally's FanDuel Sportsbook

Post by FAA »

I spent four hours at the new Bally's FanDuel Sportsbook yesterday in an effort to enjoy the NFL. Most AC trips are already NFL (No Funds: Loss). This way, I get some bang for my buck. My $45 free play win did not even cover the FDS $50 food and beverage minimum. This only covers three hours. An all day stay requires a $75 minimum. But I was determined to assess the venue's value.
It isn't great. I was thrilled to discover AC and USB outlets on the side of the padded chairs, at about the right ear level. This was critical, as even no mimimum DraftKings Resorts chairs have them and in a more convenient spot on the chair. Most weeks, the default game on a central 25-foot-wide LED video wall is the Eagles, due to Philadelphia's proximity. Good luck for fans of any other team. But this seems standard procedure in all AC books. It is flanked by two 10-foot-wide LED video walls on either side and ten video displays. I was consumed with the game and didn't miss a word with my front row center seat. They played the Chiefs, so it was a great look at a marquee franchise. The Eagles fell too far behind for any comeback attempt. The book wisely switched to Giants-Saints, headed for an exciting overtime. Once the Giants won, they wisely switched to the Jets-Titans. The Jets also won in exciting overtime fashion. I was not hassled for staying an extra hour. Still, it's a hefty tab. To avoid heavy drink mark ups, most of my minimum was food. It's upscale bar food and I was happy to sample it. It wasn't even half full. The minimum must really hurt turnout. I'm not a sports gambler. The hostess is on the opposite side of the windows and kiosks, so I didn't even notice them, as is the case at Resorts. The Resorts crowd is younger and much rowdier, as expected. Bally's is more like an upscale airport lounge. The mellow vibe is culture shock. I'm glad I went, especially since I didn't have to miss the ends of two thrilling games. But I am unlikely to return.
