Ever since the M Resort (Henderson, NV) formed a partnership with the Raiders Football team, the resort has pivoted 180. I've previously reported here about the "rough" crowd now common there. However, in recent months, it is quite evident that M has reinvented itself.
IMHO, they have discarded any notion of being a "locals" casino, and have no shame in telling folks this.
Whereas their target demographic was previously locals (for the past ten years), now they want Californians only, and preferably the Oakland crowd. There used to be a huge Filipino crowd at M; now, it would be difficult to gather five together at once. (They are going to South Point instead).
Entertainment options at M this year are almost exclusively the "rapper" type . . . Nelly is there soon, and then some other black group a week or so later. That's all there is all year. Used to be a wide variety of groups . . . Martin Nievera, a very popular Filipino American performer, used to perform to packed concert crowds at M, twice a year. Nope, no more.
I don't recognize a single VP player at M any more, unlike the "regulars" I'd see there all the time.
The marketing geniuses at M may have overplayed the significance of the Raiders affiliation. The casino crowd is definitely "rough". Those old folks in walkers from the nearby retirement community don't stand a chance.
Besides this, no place decent to eat any more. No buffet, the deli sucks, and the rebranded "Raiders Tavern" is an overrated expensive option.
This is the NEW M Resort

Labor Day weekend, just like all holiday weekends, used to mean packed crowds at M.
I went there on Saturday this weekend, just to pick up free money and run. It was stunning. The parking lots were 85% empty. You'd think all those Californians to whom the M is pandering would have stuffed the lot. Nope. There may have been 40 cars total in the main parking lot near the deli.
Where did those coveted CA guests go?
I also had free money to pick up at Park MGM. Oh my word, their parking garage was packed full, and primarily cars with CA license plates. Hmm. Went to Wynn for more free money, and couldn't even find parking on any level of their four story garage. Again, CA plates on cars.

General Manager/ Vice President Hussain, has made many mistakes during his tenure at the M. The latest is the Raider mess.
The M basically has outright purged most of their regular VP players. Not just locals, but out of towners from somewhere other than California also. The list is long and I could go on. I've always liked the M. But they've made it clear I'm not their target demographic.

M is gambling on two things, in its new marketing strategy:
(1) The Raiders fan base
(2) Barstool sports. Two weeks ago, Penn Gaming opted to go all in, purchasing 100% of Barstool Sports (two years ago, Penn's stake was just 1/3). Ooops, they are no longer "Penn Gaming" . . . they are officially rebranded "Penn Entertainment".
M is converting the gigantic vacant space (once Studio B buffet) into a "food court/sportsbook."
No surprise: M no longer needs VP players.
Just like Stations casinos, which used to have billboards and TV ads : "We Love Locals."
No longer true.
Sports betting is legal in so many states, who needs Vegas?

Absolutely. I live in AZ outside Phoenix. Local casinos now have sports books and live craps, roulette and baccarat Blackjack, VP /slots and poker rooms have been available all along. No need to go to Nevada just to gamble. https://ktar.com/story/4608138/valley-t ... tte-games/

I agree 100% the air fare cost, room/food cost one can spend that cash at their local casino and build nice comp package. Plus much less hassle. Got my money line bet in Eagles over Detroit should be easy money.

Was at the Delano over labor day weekend. Got 5 nights for a total of 500 bucks with my MGM comps. Very hot-of course. Spent more time at the pool than gambling. Terrible pay tables on the strip, but I knew that going in. I do my serious gambling at Borgata in AC, which still has 99.5% plus JOB also in Multi Strike. Wish the strip pay tables were different, but just go to Vegas for the pools , entertainment, shows and restaurants now.

They did remove the 99.69% sd bonus unfortunetly. I have not been there in quite a while. I find I miss some of the people there !

AP, yes the 99.69% SDB is long gone. I wonder how long the 9/6 JOB multi strikes and the few 9/6 JOB will last. Hard Rock does have a good double joker 9/5 game that is 99.97% if I recall. Hard to play perfectly though.
