This is the first time posting here and after reading a lot of your Q & A's, everyone seems quite knowledgeable so I hope someone can help.
I've moved quite a distance from AC and LV so my chances of getting there more than 2x a year at either aren't great. And it has been especially so since co-vid. However, I will be going to AC next month & they indicated I could score a 'free' dinner at their VIP place if I earn 20 points in a day. IDK how that relates to $'s. Is $20.00 a point, $200 a point or 2,000 a point. Or it doesn't matter the amount, just time on a particular machine since I don't play tables. I will say I play all values of machines up to and including $25. a spin. Slots included.
I want to make the best use of my time while there because it's only for 2 nights and will even pop into Hard Rock which is next door to try my luck. I have been at Ocean and Borgata but never win there so don't want to waste my time plus I like being on the Boardwalk. So can anyone explain this point system and is each casino completely different or are they similar?
Need an explanation for 'points'

While most casinos are, indeed, similar in that they track your play, usually with a point system, the similarity, unfortunately, ends there. I have recently played in casinos where it's $8 per point, and others where it's $350 per point, and some others at $10 or $20 per point. Sometimes, the point earn rate can vary within the casino itself, depending upon what game you're playing. It's important to know the value of an earned point to assess the value of what the casino is offering you.
When the casino says it takes 20 points to earn dinner, you need to to ask the casino what it takes to earn a point in order to decide if it is worth it, or not.
Sorry not to be more helpful, but the casinos don't make it easy.

Won't hurt to ask, but probably won't help.onemoretry wrote: ↑Sun Oct 30, 2022 10:38 amWhen the casino says it takes 20 points to earn dinner, you need to to ask the casino what it takes to earn a point in order to decide if it is worth it, or not.
I assume the casino is Resorts. From their FAQ:
"All slot player tier points are earned based on average bet, length of time played and hold percentage of game."
There's a guy who plays mainly at Resorts, posting on other forums as flysrb. On his July trip, he played four days and earned 66 tier points total. He plays a mix of games and bets probably 3 to 5 $ per spin.
Based on that and other comments I've seen, you'll probably need a few hundred $ coin-in per point at slots. Video poker could possibly be into the thousands per point.

Thank you onemoretry and dinghy for your information. So much has changed since the early days that I don't think I'll be investing (or donating) a large enough sum over 2 nights to gain that reward and would just as soon pay for my own dinner anyway so I can choose wherever I'd like to go. You have both been very helpful. And yes, the casino is Resorts. I like it because it is still in the Arts Deco style and on the boardwalk although I plan to see what, if anything, is happening at Hard Rock next door. Thank you again.
