Yes, it's OK for US players. No real money, only prize tournaments, which means you get subjected to ads and stuff like that. There's an option to upgrade to VIP for a monthly (I think) fee but I don't know what the benefits of that might be.
There are standalone tournaments with cash and, I think, merchandise prizes that you "buy into" with the points and tokens you gain in other tournaments. The centerpiece is a "Summit Tourney" consisting of 12 "steps." The first 9 are 6-player single table tourneys and you have to finish in the top two, or win for steps 8 and 9, to advance to the next step.
I got to Step 10 once. That's the hard one. You need to finish in the top 4 in a 6-max game with fast blinds that regularly draws 300+ and has a top limit of 2000 (I did win one against my Poker Academy bots last nite tho ). For Step 11, right before the money, you have to win outright against only 20 players.
Step 12 is the quarterly big money game, 6 players only, last place pays $1K and a win pays $10K.
I'd say the games on the VP.com/Zen site are fairly soft, even tho I find myself stuck at Step 8 for awhile now. I'm able to advance fairly steadily and have only been sent back steps for poor finishes 7 times, never before step 7.
If you're a table poker hound I say go for it, and Good Mathematics. See you around the green baize table.

Duke and I have played in the poker room several times, and really like the games... However, we each won several times (like $10 or so) then found out we had to supply our bank acct # and social security # to collect the winnings. Really????? Like that's going to happen... Why can't they pay by check or issue a card? Just sayin'.

they can not as they are a lot of frauds which are hunting such casinos, so that they need to proof all winnings etc.
