Re: Strip casinos limiting comped drinks
99% of VP decisions are obvious and the ones that aren't typically don't cost the player too much.
really interesting statement. countless hours have been spent on this forum, from those who are math advocates, stating the importance of gaining every hundredth of a percent advantage by playing on the proper machine and playing perfectly.
making the wrong decision, no matter how small, they argue, will have a big impact on one's long term results.

Those who drink too much and spend too much money should be unaffected.Until they wake up the next morning with their wallet bare...

next up: bringing back the pay toilet? Good article but it doesn't affect me,I've got notes beat by 3 years. Also Bill was right in limiting intake of alcohol while playing anyway. A drunk and their money are soon parted.21 years for this kid. And those pay toilets will take credit cards instead of coins Just another reason to avoid playing on the strip.

Good for you Sea Lion.
I read an article about this the other day and it said that using this system was slow to catch on in Las Vegas and it is limited to those players sitting at bars playing and drinks are still free for those playing on the gambling floor.
The article went on to say that CET properties will not be using a comp system like this at their casinos.

You would think that casinos and hotels out here would want to advertise how to draw people here, not chase them away. Resort fees, $50 buffets, lousy VP paytables on the strip, parking fees, and now a red light/ green light system at casino bars. You know, if someone is just kicking back at a bar and not playing, it is very easy for a bartender to tell them "Hey, first drink is on us, but you gotta play if you want another one, otherwise we gotta charge you for it".Another thing is that methinks Vegas tightens down their machines on holiday weekends, just like gas always seems to go up on holiday weekends. Only thing is that Labor Day is not the end of summer weekend here, Thanksgiving weekend is....

Even more details about the Drink Comp system in place at Caesars Entertainment properties on Vegas strip stated on the vitalvegas dot com blog.
Caesars Entertainment Rolls Out Comp Drink Monitoring System to All Its Las Vegas Resorts
Found this from Seven Stars Insider.
Reading Vman's 15th Vegas trip report, it does not seem that bad. I think I can get comp drinks if I wanted to, but prefer not in order to focus on playing correctly.

Do you play at casino bars? I figured out awhile ago they often don't have the best pay tables.South Point and E.I. being exceptions.

In AC, it would be nice to force Borgata barflies who insert $10 or $20 and vegetate to actually play! But that venue is way too classy for a Red/Green light voucher system. I'd even welcome it at CET. Weeding out the freeloadersis good for actual players. It takes a certain element out of the casino too.

methinks Vegas tightens their machines on holiday weekends, just like gas always up on holiday weekends.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I got killed on LD weekend 2,500 miles away. Though I was more likely in the wrong casino, I have concluded. Easter weekend was a RF elsewhere, for what it's worth.
