I want a casino!!!!
The newest gaming establishment in the area in which I live has been open a little over one year now. They had a tough time getting this idea voted in but it looks like its going to be a very profitible venture. They decided it would not be a casino but a "games of skill establishment". Don't mess up and call them a casino because they will let you know quick that they are not a casino. They have mentioned this more than once in the local papers also. Anyway they claim to have spent around $40 million on renovations before they opened for business. I find that figure a bit high because its barlely anything more than a big building with a lot of machines in it. In thier first year of business they reported a profit of $33 million. Not bad for a $40 million dollar investment. Won't take very long in 08 for them to recover the total investment and be making a clear profit.

pokeherguy - A much similar situation happened in Illinois when the Empress Casino first opened in Joliet back around 1992. The original cost was around 13 million and this was recouped in the first month of operation, prior to being sold this boat brought hundreds of millions in profits to the original investors. Not a bad return on the investment. Good luck, Ted

If owning a casino is your goal, what steps are you taking to get there?
Playing in them doesn't count.

Pokeherguy; often we only see the glamorous, big money side of casino operations and the stressful nights, dirty pool, hostile takeover attempts and constant struggles to stay in compliance with the NGC or any other state would have many thinking twice about it. They are nice and profitable when run well but theres always a darkside unfortunately.

If playing in them doesn't count then the answer would be no steps. I'm a tad short of that initial $40 million investment at this time. But I expect I can get the money together within the next 300 years.

Perhaps you should talk to Faygo for a loan!

I'm currently very busy with my new hobby , looking through all the old books I can find. If this proves sucessful, I will open Faygo Savings and Loan and buy an Internet Co.
