DESPERATE FOR BUSINESS??
when in vegas last month, used the free offer from Venetian. Got the room, the $250 in slot play and barely gave any more play than that.
Already another offer has come. this time it's for up to FOUR free nights @ Venetian or Palazzo, $250 in free slot play or table game play, an "Ultimate dinner" for two at Zine, their new Asian bistro and the gift basket (not sure it was actually in the room last time as my parents stayed in it). They will upgrade you to a luxury view suite based on availability.
However, according to the offer, your friends can stay for $99 a night if their stay overlaps with yours by at least one night.
Additionally, it states that you can use this offer as many times as you like between Feb 15 and April 30.

Vido, you must have dropped a decent chunk of change for them to be offering that to you. They (Las Vegas Sands) aren't going to offer that many nights and $250.00 in free play to the average OEJ!.Granted they're hurting because of the economy and their own financial situation but they won't grovel and offer freebies to anyone either. Neither will Wynn for that matter.

VP,
I've been getting that same offer or similar ones from the Venetian/Palazzo for months now...and I haven't stayed there in a few years. In fact, I've been getting offers like these from all the casinos whether I've stayed/played in them recently or not. Yes, in a sense, they are desperate for business. But more so, it's good business and good marketing to make offers like this in economic times like these. The hotels are not sold out as they used to be, so it's only good for business to give away rooms and food and some free play to draw some undisciplined spenders as many gamblers are.
All businesses today, whether they're casinos, auto dealers, or clothing stores must be smart to market and advertise their products and offer large incentives to get folks interested. If the Venetian or any of these other casinos didn't aggressively offer free rooms, etc. they'd be in a deeper financial crisis than they're already facing.

I got the 4 nights and 99 for friends/family offer, but no free slot play. I'll have to look again but I'm pretty sure. Maybe $25 or so. You've obviously put in a lot more coin there than me.

EDC...see my last post. I disagree completely. Although I do gamble large at some places, I have hardly thrown a couple hundred through the machines at Wynn and I'm getting free room offers from them every few days. Right now, these casinos exces will do whatever it takes to fill the rooms, they'll let the temptation do the rest.

Ed, Eduardo, Damule:
Damule is right. When I was there in December, between the three of us, we maybe put $40 bucks (at most) of our own money through the machines. That's it! And I never had a players club card there before.
Also, for the free room at the Wynn in December that came with the $250 in free play, I never had a card there before either and the only out of pocket money I put in was $100 for blackjack and I cashed out after 5 minutes when I got to $135. Did it to at least show some action at the tables. They, however, have not sent another free room offer since. we shall see....
If I go back before the end of April, I will probably just let someone use the Venetian room and then I'll use the slot play. I much prefer to stay at the Orleans. Obviously the rooms are nicer at the Venetian, but I do all my blackjack and slot play the Orleans and the comps are there.
I also read a blip in yesteday's LA Times about how the Trump Hotel is now offering room rates from 89$. The paper said that was 75% off the intial opening rates of around 350$ /nite.

I just checked my offer again. It was $25 slot play plus the free nights and friends/family. It's for the Palazzo so maybe that makes a difference, but my wife and I put a fair amount of coin in there on the previous trip.
If the slot play was $250 like yours, I'd reconsider my pans to stay at GVR on the next trip. I think the "desperation" can really pay off right now, especially when it comes to out-of-towners that may not be planning a trip otherwise.
Plus there is no better time to build some loyalty than these hard times.

Eduardo..
This offer (like the last one) is also valid at either the Palazzo OR the Venetian...
when is your next trip planned for, by the way?

Yes, I thought it was good at both hotels. Shame there isn't more free play on there. Oh, well...
I haven't figured out my next trip yet, but I am guessing I'll drive out there in February again. Much easier that way. Now that I've tried the drive (from SoCal) I might make it out more frequently than I used to.

Vido, shared database information is not uncommon amongst the casinos and easy to research your gaming habits. even if you dropped a $20 while waiting for someone to go potty, they know when and where. Based on your past habits, I'd venture to say they're trying to lure you away from wherever it is that you do your gaming and keep a good comp point balance. whoever shared or sold this info was foolish and might ruin your loyalty to that casino. I'm surprised that Eduardo doesn't carry diamond status.
