Where to you play poker in Vegas.

Post by spxChrome »

So I have a trip planned to Vegas.  Staying at the Paris.  Its been a few years since my last trip.  I think they were just putting the finishing touches on Red Rock Casino.  Last time I did pretty well at Paris and Harrahs.  And did horrible at downtown vegas.  So where do you play when in Vegas?  I mostly play $1 DDB progressive and some TDB but I'd love to play some of the new games I don't normally have access to like Multi Strike with the mulitpler.  Ace Invaders and Big Split.

I hit a $1 progressive DDB RF a few years ago at Paris for $4800. But generally the pay tables on the strip blow. Red Rock is my favorite, it has the largest variety of games and great pay tables. The Palms is strong, but be careful there as they change the pay tables alot and may have various pay tables at the same bank of machines. Green Valley is similar to Red Rock, but not as nice of a casino. The M is nice as well but has also lowered it's pay tables recently.

I have usually done pretty good a Arizonia Charlies also.......... 2 years ago I got 9 Royals on nickels and they were  all at the Gold Coast and Orleans , we stay off the strip, last year I only got one royal on nickels... never got one on quarters..........what I like in vegas is they have triple play in nickels and that is really fun, you don't get much return but sometimes you do hit a few really good things,  to keep you going.  Because my mom lives there when we go we stay 2 weeks and that's a long time to stretch your $ out.  Didn't do much at the M, think I got the Aces and tha't about it.  We try all the casino;s off the strip. The one night at Charlies was the most fun I have had out there.  They were having a promo that when you sign up for your card and spent 100$ they gave you back the 100.......... well I got on a HOT machine and couldn't lose if I wanted to, that machine just handed out four of a kind like crazy..... I walked away with over 900 $, well that has never happened again, but god that was sooooooooo much fun!

Agree with others...RR, GVR, M.   No one ever mentions the other Station Casinos...I use to play at Texas, Boulder and Sunset but that was many years ago so don't know anything about them...Maybe someone else does...Anywhere OFF the strip....

Favorite place to stay/play is Red Rock. Especially with the incredible selection of the newest games, high returns, and with the pool and amenities. We did stay at the Palms our past trip along with RR and were very impressed with the high returns, rooms, but they don't have all the latest new games like RR.

If you stay multiple days at RR, consider:
1) You can take the shuttle from RR to the Fashion Mall on the strip. if you want to try the strip area.
2) From the strip the "deuce" shuttle bus takes you up and down the strip and to downtown.
3) Using the shuttle from Harrah's you can go to the Rio so you can walk across the street to the Palms.

Sure saves cab fees and car rental.

Enjoy your trip.

Red Rock is a good 25 minutes from the strip. If I recall about $30 via taxi. That is why I recommend if you stay on the strip to take the shuttle from the Fashion Mall to RR (it was free). Keep in mind that the pay tables on the strip are horrible compared to off strip. But the strip is a great place for excitement and if you haven't been in years it would be a chance to see the "new sights". Even a few hours of play at RR will probably earn you a night comp.

Either way Vegas is one fun place.

I agree with all the tips from everyone else.  We also like Sams Town.  There's a lot of variety.  Went to AZ Charlies on Boulder once. We went for the really cheap ham and egg breakfast.  I put $20 in a $1 progressive and won $2000.  It's small and a bit dated, but I can't complain about the winning.  Good luck!
