Re: Harrahs Lake Tahoe
I know they still have $1 JOB on the triple play in HLR at Harrah's. Where did you find the quarter JOB?
Horizon is set to reopen on Jan 28th so should be just opening up when you get there.

A 50-play machine with 25 cent 9/6 JOB is listed as being in the high limit room. I can verify it at the end of the month.
So how many tier credits did you get on your trip? Significant progress towards renewing 7S status?

We got enough points to be on pace for 7 stars. We usually see it as a marathon and spread out our play. One year we made 7 star by June but is most years we do not reach 7 stars until some time later in the year.
This year with CET's bankruptcy I look for some changes in the rewards program. Do not know what they will be or whether they will be good or bad. I guess as usual we will find out for sure some time around the end of March. Wish they would let us know sooner so we could adjust our play accordingly.

I like 19th Kitchen better. Sage room food is good but there is no view. I sent you PM on the 4th but got no response. Did you ever get it?

I go to Harvey's a lot and 19 Kitchen gets my vote for the best restaurant in Harrah's/Harveys. Can't beat the view and the food is consistently excellent. Be sure to get the donuts for dessert!

Broke even as far as video poker was concerned. No big hits but managed to get enough 4oak's with one aces with kicker along the way to hold my own. I was pleasantly surprised that all of the good machines are still there and they have not tampered with the pay tables.
Lake Tahoe itself was as low as I can ever remember seeing it. It must be several feet low and you can see exposed rocks everywhere along the shoreline. Decided not to ski on this trip. Hoping they will get more snow before our next trip middle of next month.
If you are looking for a great place to eat the Ciera Chophouse next door at Montbleu was very good. On Sun., Wed. and Thurs. they over a three course meal for $30 that was outstanding. Better than the overpriced steakhouses at Harrah's / Harvey's unless you are trying to use up some rc's or have a food credit.
Was disappointed in the diamond lounge at Harvey's. They no longer have hot food there. Still have chips and dips and a bar but that is about all. Not sure what their long term plan is for it. Closing it down would be such a shame because it has such a nice view and a feeling of exclusivity about it.

Since you didn't ski, what were some things you did to occupy your time (besides gambling)? I'm always looking for things to do there when I have down time.

We like to walk and hike. One morning we walked from Harrah's down to the Y where K-Mart is. It's about 6 miles each way. We took the bus on the way back. Keep in mind there was no snow on the sidewalks so it was easy to do.
We also have a couple of hikes close by that we do weather permitting. Directly behind Harrah's there is a hiking trail that goes up parallel to Heavenly. We usually go up to where there is a small waterfall. It's about 2.5 miles each way. We also found a hiking trail nearby just passed Lakeside Inn we enjoy. It goes down to the lake and through the camp ground and back up to Hwy 50 about where Safeway is. Then we cross over it goes up and over and through a nice wooded area and dead ends into Kingsbury Grade. It is a little over 6 miles to do the whole thing.
I am hoping when we go back next month they have more snow. In hindsight I probably could have skied. I talked to several people most who said the conditions were pretty good even though most of the snow was man made.
