I read with interest your reply to Lucky Larry as I have wondered about that as well. If you do not mind, another question about RNG. Say for instance you are playing DDB single hand, and were lucky enough to be dealt 3 aces, or any other 3 of a kind for that matter. Of course, one holds them. My question is this: after the hold, is the RNG still shuffling or are the next 2 cards already assigned. Superstitiously, I pause and do a silly thing that one may do.. And, I used to believe that the cards were dealt from behind each position, for example: from left to right the middle card was assigned from the middle position, the farthest right card was behind the farthest right. etc. I was told that I was in error and dealing from left to right cards, and in the case of my example, 2 cards are assigned.
Also, if one changes denominations, say from 50 cents hand (2.50)to $1.00 a hand (5.00) and I am still playing DDB, is that an entirely new game? or the cards dealt the same regardless of what denomination played. The reason I ask is that I was dealt 4 aces and a kicker (yea!!) and the lady that paid me said too bad that I wasn't playing $5 (25) instead of $1.
thank you for your time.

Shadowman,
Thanks for the clarification and analogy. The more I learn the better I can understand the system operations. Hopefully, it will allow me to also become a better VP player.

Thanks to you and all of the senior members who give us newbies so much information on how to improve.

All of you have a great Memorial Day weekend.

You've described several different styles of dealing cards that have been used over the years.  In modern machines the RNG continues running until the instant you hit the "Draw" button.  That's when those last two cards are selected.

The reason I ask is that I was dealt 4 aces and a kicker (yea!!) and the lady that paid me said too bad that I wasn't playing $5 (25) instead of $1.

The dealing style is the same for all denominations on a machine, and the odds of being dealt any given hand are the same on all denominations.  The woman who paid you just meant that 2000 point jackpot would have worked out to more $'s at a higher denomination.

Thank you very much cddenver,
I have asked casino slot techs and have received ambiguous and conflicting answers. So the next time I am dealt 3 aces and hoping for the 4th, I shall offer a sacrifice to the god of the RNG and hope he/she/it approves!!
That was very sweet of you to take the time to answer our questions.

The truth is you probably would not have been dealt the 4 aces if you were playing the $5 denom.  The time it would have taken to change the denom would have changed your timing and pretty much everything after that would have been different. Of course, that might have meant you got a RF instead. This same fact also applies to changing games. The moment you decide to change games you will change everything that follows.

So, every little thing one does while playing changes their results. Take a moment to order a drink ... changes everything. Scratch an itch ... changes everything. Swear at the machine ... I think you know the answer now.

Shadow, the underlying bonus is it might change for the better. Sometimes while playing in a groove, you might pause for any given reason and then POW! get a nice hit. Therein lies that bonus. My luck is usually POW! a pile of manure.

Thank you for your answer Shadow. I thought of the when the lady who paid me said that. Like you and cddenver said, every second changes everything. But, I still change machines if one isn't being nice to me. My best friend is a CPA who audits Indian casinos. She didn't know the answer to the RNG question. But she did say that when an audit shows that a machine has a propensity to pay out more than an avg. machine is deemed should pay, that they yank the machine out of service. The usual life a a VP machine is about a year if it is "hot". I have noticed certain machines have trends. My friend agrees with you. Every hand is a potential RF or pfffft.
Have a wonder weekend.
