Going for the royal - and my new plan of attack?

Good advice, everyone, as usual!

New2vp is right that if i am willing to give up ER by playing worse pay tables, i might as well still try and stay on good pays and change my strategy instead. Giving up ER is giving up ER, and changing a few plays would result in more royals than playing worse pay tables. Bad idea for the long term, and maybe I need to give up on trying to rush my first royal and just let it come when it does.

I also appreciate the advice to play as usual and if it comes, it comes. And, it is also true that we don't have to play at the Bellagio. We could have an outing to play somewhere else for a bit. Maybe even hop over to the Hilton for my favorite full pay loose deuce machine. That would probably be a better idea than compromising too much if the pays at quarter level are really bad. I'd enjoy myself more.

I just want that royal so bad. Decisions, decisions...

I'm sure I'll end up with a combination of approaches. But we will see. I like to come up with a game plan before I go on a trip so that I don't make stupid decisions in the heat of the moment.

As long as I know I'm giving up ER and understand the consequences, I don't mind a gamble once in a while. If I only have a 20% chance of reaching my goal, that's a gamble. But at least I know my odds. I like to know what I'm looking at instead of just guessing. It's still mostly luck but I like the odds of good luck coming along to be at their best.

Thanks again for all the comments! I'll let it bounce around in my brain for a while and see what I decide. I still have weeks before the trip and I will of course let you all know how it goes.

I recall a good rule of thumb for bankroll. (Probably Shadow!) Plan 2-3 RF's worth of the denom you plan to play. Although playing at the quarter level will require you to pack a 2-3K bankroll, that doesn't mean you can't play at that level with a smaller bankroll. I've done the quarter level play at a smaller than $500 bankroll and manged to make it last 2 days so no reason why you can't. Although playing a 6/5 DDB machine on the floor would normally be off limits, given time constraints, budget and availabilityof games might force you to do just that. No one game will give you any better odds of hitting an RF so choose your game and practice. As New pointed out, strategy change might be in order if an RF is your sole intent. It's a tough call Eduardo. Listen to your heart and hit that button! Good luck as always.

I think you already know the answers to your questions Eduardo. If your sole goal is a royal... Beware! It's an ugly feeling with a limited 'roll to 'go for it' and have it all gone in 5 minutes!

Yes I just had to process it all after I asked and figured most of it out on my own. I guess it wasn't as complicated as I thought. I was thinking pay tables and denominations would factor in more, but a drop in denomination outweighs any small paytable variations by a lot, when it comes to simply hitting a royal flush.

Someone mentionned less royals in wildcard games-but in my experience Ive gotten and seen others get more Royals in DW where you are holding those cards for the wild royal all the time. Maybe its selective memory!-I say start with $100 in .50 single line Deues Wild Bonus and see what happens. If you dont get a hit (5 of a kind, straight flush..) Then switch to quarters BP or JB. I find you can play a while if you have a decent machine and the longer you play the better your chance at a royal.

My humble cat brain thinks If your goal is a Royal  Flush play .25 basic Jacks or Better. I don't have any fancy complicated 'math' or computations to back  up my statement just an instinct.

Oh and by the way if you take this advice and hit your Royal I want credit/mention that it was my idea..
