Re: Do you agree with me or not !!!
Hey All...
Became Gold member a few days ago to be able to use the
training mod on VP have been using Bob Dancers win poker for years...
Just drew the hand below...DDB...
Vp trainer says to keep the K only
and Win poker trainer says to pick K,10,2...
Which is the correct pick...

Why rehash an old thread? We answered this for you last week.

You happy now Vman96... But this one is a bit different.
I'm asking why two different programs are giving two
different answers as to what are the correct picks are...
The other post asks...
I use Bob Dancers win poker software and the reason for the post is
this hand has never made any sence to me as far as why the program
says King, Ten, Four of clubs is the correct choice...
--------------------------------------------------------
Vp trainer says the to hold K only...
So Keeping K, 10 would be the third possible combination.
I guess in this case there all the wrong picks one way
or the other...

I found a way to confirm the correct picks for any hand that seems to be suspicious
as to what the right hold cards should be...
I was looking at DanMahowny's post and saw where he checked in wizardofodds.com to
analyze the hand he was concerned with. That gave me an Idea...
I have availability to three analyzers now.
Vp trainer, Bob Dancer, wizardofodds.com, all have there own Video Poker Hand Analyzers.
So now I can check the hand in question on all three analzyers.
If I get the same picks on all of them...I will know for sure that the choice is correct...
If I get two matching and one different card hold...I'll go with the two matching picks...
I have a few weeks to analyze all the hands I want before we head for vegas. When I get
done I will be a Bob Dancer Jr well as far as analyzing a hand goes anyway...LOL...

you must realize everyone plays poker different. I myself am not there for flushes and straights. I always hold for the Royal unless I have three Aces, 2,3,or 4's. I once was at Tropicana in AC. Progressive Jackpot on double deuces machine dealt me king, queen, jack, ten and nine of clubs for a straight flush. Jackpot was $1.695.00 I figured I had a chance for either wind Royal or the Jackpot. Held King through 10 hit than deal draw button and up popped that beautiful Ace of clubs, hit that Jackpot. People think I was nuts for throwing away a straight flush, but when there's 4 for the Royal for me there's no question on what do do.
Also if I have a flush or straight four in the same suit I will go for tha straight flush everytime. I know most people don't play like me and some think I'm nuts, but to me what is a straight or a flush going to give you, I'm gamblling going for the big one every time. Just saying, that's me.

A natural straight flush in most deuces wild games does not pay a lot. Breaking up a king high straight flush to go for the royal is the best play, and I can't understand why people would be amazed that you did it. On the other hand, if, in games where straight flushes pay 250 (or higher) you consistently toss king high straight flushes and "go for the royal", you are the casino's best friend

I general I follow the rules for DDB poker...
That is the only game I play and know the correct strategy for...
With that being said...
There are still a few hands that don't make sense to me
as far as the correct holds are so I do my own thing and hold what I call the common sense picks...
This are the hands...Suited K, 10, and 2 threw 8 >>> I hold the K, 10...
Unsuited Q,J, instead of an A... >>> I hold the A....
Everything else I can live with...

Hi...
Been practicing on VP Trainer...DDB
The best THING I have learned is to slow down my play, I was playing to fast and making stupid mistakes...
So did a run to see how many hands I could do before making a mistake...
You can't imagine how many crudy hands I drew...LOL...
There are a lot of tricky hands including the one that got me...
I'm sure there are more I have not come across yet...
Here is the last snap shot of the correct hands...
And the last snap shot is the hand that got me...
I went to wizard of odds and analyzed the hand...
When I change either the 6 or the 2 of spades to another suit the correct pick is the A...
Still got a few weeks before I do it with real money in vegas.
I'll try to learn as much as I can but honestly I don't think leaning the
rules for this crudy hands and going to make that big a difference in the
overall play at a casino...
I guess if I was playing video poker professionally it would be a different story...

It's the flush (and straight flush) penalties attached to holding the ace only. With A26 suited, you'll make less than 50% as many flushes as you would if you didn't discard a spade. Obviously it's a small effect since you are discarding 4, but it is just enough to push KJoff ahead in this spot.
But it's not really worth worrying about that much. Finding 9/6 DDB or 10/6 DDB in Vegas for your desired stakes would be much, much more valuable to you. Good job being correct for 300 hands in a row! That's not very easy; I know it would be hard for me.
