Re: value of a ticket vs real money
There are players who manage to collect transportation
costs from several casinos at once. So for a trip that actually costs
$500, they receive $1000 or $2000 back. That's an advantage play!
This is a very enlightening comment. I had never thought of this possibility. That would be like us getting two free hotel rooms on the same day and selling one of them. With all the incentives a casino will give you to play at that level, I can see how the system can be tweaked positive. Clever...

If I won big early, I would put the win away and play the rest of what I came in with and go home with my big win.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------It's not quite that easy. When I won a royal, I got ten hundreds. That creates quite an uncomfortable wallet bulge. I would have to ask for a check, which is ultimately better and safer anyway. So I would put in some leg work at the cage to convert the winnings to check form next time. Which cannot come soon enough.

Here's what I do. I carry a small metal box in my pocket that my wife gave me. It's about 4" x 3" x1" thick and resembles an old cigarette carrying case from the fifties. I immediately cash out all wins over $50 and put the ticket in the box. I keep playing my cash and don't take any tickets out of the box until all my money is gone. When my money is gone, I add up the tickets. If I have more than I started with I may cash a few of them, but my goal is to always try to go home with at least the amount I came in with. I don't always make my goal, but it's not because I put my winnings back into the machines. If I hit a $1,000 jackpot I try not to cash that ticket. They are so rare that I want to take it home and add it to my bankroll. Recreational players need to have a talk with themselves. The problem with most recreational play strategy is that there is no exit strategy. Players just keep playing until all their money is gone which is why they keep losing time after time. Continuing to play hoping that you will catch back up or waiting for the math to turn your fortunes around is foolish in my opinion. You need to have a clearly defined strategy for when you are going to leave the casino. Works for me...

There is a product that is even more extreme than this idea. A lockable version.

That's a fair assessment. Also those who argue travel expenses are irrelevant for those who can deduct them from their taxes are confused on how tax deductions work.Deducting certain expenses from your taxes does not totally reimburse you. If you're paying taxes at the 30% rate, for example, only 30% of the money spent on travel comes back to you. Is it better than getting 0% back? Of course. But it's nowhere near 100%.For these expenses to be irrelevant, you'd have to get 100% back. And you don't.There are players who manage to collect transportation costs from several casinos at once. So for a trip that actually costs $500, they receive $1000 or $2000 back. That's an advantage play! Some do this AND still deduct the $500 in expenses on their Schedule C. I'm not claiming to have done any of this, but those players who play for low stakes and decide that high stakes players cannot possibly be a net winner really have no clue as to the range of techniques available to the smart high-stakes player that aren't available at all to the low stakes player. Although I write about many of the techniques I use, the best ones are too valuable to share. And if I did share, it certainly wouldn't be on a site where haters are allow to make ridiculous libelous statements all the time. To echo florida phil, this is one of the BEST, most enlightening posts ever on this forum, and coming from Bob dancer, makes it extremely interesting.First off, including the tactic Bob details regarding the Double or Triple Dip travel reimbursement within the umbrella terminology "advantage play" is a little troubling......this almost seems like fraud, and perhaps it is, but at the same time, if a person can get away with it, and if indeed it is one of those UNINTENDED loopholes or cracks in the system that come from imperfect competition between inefficient organizations like the various casino companies out there, then I guess a person is compelled to take full advantage of it.......I recognize Bob claims that he himself has never done this, so I am not directing anything at all towards him.... But I would have to believe that such a thing as being reimbursed for a major travel expense like airline tickets by two or more different casinos, such that a person winds up making a HUGE profit via traveling/buying airline tix, would jeopardize that persons possible standing with ALL casinos involved if this ever came to light, so is it worth it??? What other consequences besides losing any and all player club status and benefits are there? Phil, you also touched on a smaller scale, but no less ethically problematic issue for advantage players, the concept of having a lot of free room offers and possibly "selling" them. This I personally know used to happen all the time in AC, and was something the casinos did a lot to combat.......but again, if this tactic falls under "Advantage play" then something "stinketh in advantage play realm such that none may abide its odor!" From late 2010 thru the end of 2012, I personally had free rooms and food offers for every week of each month from Trump Taj/Plaza, Atlantic Club, Tropicana, Resorts, and the Caesars Properties (HArrahs, Ballys, Caesars and Showboats) all in AC.....I did not play much at all in most of these places, but Jussssst enough to garner free rooms at least Sunday - Thursday, but for one or two places where I did the Majority of my playing (i.e. my "main casino base") I had rooms 7 days a week, such that by scheduling the friday-saturday stays at my "base" and filling all the other days amongs the many other casinos, I could literally "LIVE for free" in AC the whole month. Many people had this and as such, especially amongst New Yorkers who lived close to each other, some people were booking their free rooms and then "selling" the rooms to anyone they could for rates below the "Standard normal" listed online price. This may still be happening, but I do know in 2013 they started really nailing those people who managed to get caught, taking away all player benefits and even banning them from the casinos.Another real issue had to do with free bus tickets; ALL AC casinos that received ANY type of bus influx had a special kiosk tied into both NJ Transit and the larger bus companies (like greyhound) whereby if a person frequently stayed at various AC hotel casinos, they qualified for a free round trip bus ticket, WITH the BONUS 25 dollar SLOT coupon, after 5 to 8 casino visits! Again, between 2010 and 2012 this perk/program was subject to much abuse and graft, mainly due to the casinos themselves and their lack of oversight or insight! For instance, in Tropicana's case, if a person accumulated 8 "trips" they qualifed for a free bus ticket (such as between AC and NYC or AC and Philly or AC and Wash D.c.) which included the all important 25 dollar slot coupon bonus! But here's the thing....a "trip" as far as Tropicana was concerned was merely each DAY a person spent in the casino and swiped their player card! That is to say, I used to be able to stay at Tropicana for 4, 5 or 6 days straight and actually get credit for 4, 5 or 6 TRIPS! Needless to say, I was getting free bus tickets at a rate of almost one (or even two) a month in 2010-2012 because I often would stay in AC one or two times a month for at least 4-5 days per trip (going as high as 10 days a few times!Well people were abusing this by selling the free bus travel vouchers to ANYONE who wanted them (considering a typical bus ticket was 40 bucks round trip amongst the major cities & AC you can see the potential, and we have not even addressed the Slot coupon bonus that came with it!) This was very "ADVANTAGE PLAY Oriented" indeed!I am glad Bob came out and admitted there are simply a lot of things that he does that allow him to be "BOB DANCER" that we average suckers have not been made privvy to.....I think some of us always knew this (i know I suspected it all along) had to be the case in order for someone like Bob to do what he does. Given what has already been outlined as encompassing "Advantage play" I shudder to think what Bob could be doing that he does not share with the rest of us.....What about your courses and classes Bob (past and present instructional sessions or mediums)? The people that pay you for your time and tutelage......surely you clue them in on some of your greatest secrets and tactics right???Ah well, I salute you......and I am sorry you feel this site is full of haters and libelous twits......I personally do not hate you at all, on the contrary, I enjoy very much the balance you provide this forum.

After even more chest pounding about how he skirts the system, how could any reader not believe his tax returns go through pass after pass until he thinks he's getting an advantage by filing it? I just read a past article he wrote boasting about stealing breakfast at some motel. What is it that we're suppose to be learning from him, how to be dishonest? Is that what those classes are about?

Recreational players need to have a talk with themselves. With most recreational play strategy there is no exit strategy.
Players just keep playing until all their money is gone which is why
they keep losing time after time. Continuing to play hoping that you
will catch back up or waiting for the math to turn your fortunes around
is foolish in my opinion. You need to have a clearly defined strategy
for when you are going to leave the casino.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Yeah, that's Bankroll 101. A couple of reckless greed fueled busts after being such a cautious, frugal player taught me the error of my ways. If you persist in daredevil, sailor on leave play, you must live with the consequences. My favorite play is No Exit. But my favorite casino play is Winning Exit. Followed by Quick Exit.
