Re: Martingale strategy question

Where would you EVER find a VP machine that has stakes starting at a nickel and going up to over 5,000 dollars a hand. It does not exist, so your theory is garbage.

Are you saying if such a machine existed, his theory wouldn't be garbage?

18 consecutive hands in video poker of "WIN 0".

I see. Thank you for letting me know. I guess it IS possible to lose that many times in a row then.

As I said, you could start with nickel machines at a casino and then go online for the higher stakes bets. Honestly though, I don't know if there are online sites that allow VP bets that high or not. If there were, then the strategy could be attempted.

If you attempt this strategy you might as well use full pay Deuces and Joker wild as the game of choice. There is a greater than 50% chance of a non-losing hand for each deal-draw. That's good to know. Thanks!

It wouldn't be garbage if his machine let him bet infinite dollars.

Damn I wish I had infinite dollars...

I have lost the following consecutive hands job 36, deuces wild 40, joker kings 46, and 3 stints on various games without a Royal in over 600k hands. Martingale could work most times if you cut your losses. It works much better on craps on the pass line with a smaller bet on any craps. If you cut it off after 5 or 6 losses in a row which you will get at some point in the day, most days you can do pretty well. Before I retired, I played that way just to make gas money. Some days in craps, it just goes back and forth all day with never more than 4 or 5 losses in a row. On those days, you can really clean up.

Betting systems do not work. Period. If the game is negative, there is no system of bets that will turn it into positive EV. There is a mathematical proof of this, but the simplest way of looking at it is looking at every negative-EV bet as a step downhill money-wise. There is no series of downhill steps that will end uphill from where you started.Martingale systems have as much mathematical sense as CS --- which is to say none at all. Since CS has been relegated to the "Recreational Forum," my vote is for this thread to me moved there too.
